Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life?
Not many conglomerates can boost of transforming lives the way Aditya Birla Group has. Consciously or not we have all used its products or services at least some point in life and it has now become synonymous with our lives.
I remember my childhood days when I used to accompany my father to oversee the construction of our house and curiously ask “Dad, Can the structure really bear such a load?” and my dad used to smile and reply back, “Don’t worry, we use the engineer’s choice!!” That was how I was introduced to “Ultratech Cement” and Aditya Birla Group. It’s been 18 years since and the walls of my home still stand strong as does my faith in Aditya Birla Group. It has watched me grow and emerge from a curious little child into an able management student. It has shielded me from the scorching summers and the cold winters like an guardian angel and helped me in becoming the person I am today. And for a really long time that’s what I thought. But, as fate would have it, our relationship was much stronger than that, much closer than that. All I could do was give a nostalgic smile with teary eyes and clutch my shirt tightly, as I discovered that my prized possession, my favourite “Alley Solly” Shirt was a part of Aditya Birla Group. I had never felt so happier, so foolish yet so much at peace. Aditya Birla Group has been with me all along, walking with me, playing with me, getting dirty with me and clean again like a best friend, like a mentor, like a true partner.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
We all have dreams in life. May be a crazy dream or a bold dream or a surreal dream. My dream was my love yet my greatest fear. I loved and feared the stage and dreamt of becoming a public speaker. Overcoming fears is not easy, but it starts with that first step and my first step was joining Toastmasters, a public speaking and leadership community, where i got to look at my fears and stand unafraid. As a novice, I would always go onto the stage to pursue my love and on reaching realise my fears. But that did not stop me from going and trying and speaking in front of the public. Every time I went and fell, I stood back up and every time I stood back up, I stood stronger than before. Slowly and slowly, I started speaking in front of more people and more often and each time I could see my fears diminishing and getting one step closer to my ambition. I attended workshops on public speaking, I browsed and read and took up lessons on effective storytelling and overcoming stage-fright and tried my learnings through the stage Toastmasters had provided me. After every attempt and every speech, I requested for feedback from my mentor and friends and tried incorporating them in my next attempt. With time I could notice the change in me, I could see the fear slowly slipping away into the air and becoming a more confident speaker. And finally, one day, I was given a chance to anchor an event in my organisation. I accepted the opportunity and gave it my all and in the process was hugely appreciated by the audience. That day, I finally realized, “Yes, I have achieved my dream”.
