Urban Illumina is one of the most awaited events of the students of MDI.This fun-filled extravaganza, for which the Delhi-Gurgaon crowd eagerly waits, drew a crowd of over 2,500 within the MDI campus. With free entry and hoards of attractive rewards up for grabs, there was much to rejoice about at the Mela.

@illumina_mdi_gurgaon is pleased to share the highlights of the 26th edition of ‘Urban Illumina’, a series of events where MDI students helped corporates understand Indian consumer behavior in the urban market in a disguised manner. The event was a starry affair like the previous years and brought with itself this mega-sized event hosting a long array of events, bigger and better!
This was a 1 day long event and it truly set the standards too high for all the fests to take place in future. The events ranged from exemplary dance performances, the spectacular display of talent through the musical band performance conducted by Mandolins, the Music Team and the celebrity band performance by ‘When Chai Met Toast’ among many other things adding just the perfect spice to it all!

This year's theme “Jashn-e-Illumina” celebrated the passionate zeal of market researchers of MDI to study consumer behaviour and solve problems of many brands such as Bira, Flipkart, Biryani Blues, EaseMyTrip, Haleon, Polka Pop, Moonshine, Creya Learning among others.
Urban Illumina started with Expressions in the morning. It is an art competition for students conducted both in offline and online mode and witnessed the participation of 1000+ students from schools across Delhi-NCR.
The main event was kick-started by the performance of Mandolins, the band of MDI, which literally had the crowd head-banging. The audience was awestruck by their rhythm and melody.
The fest stage was then taken over by the dance competition under Illumina’s umbrella- ‘Dance Face Off’ - a group dance tussle that saw overwhelming participation with each one putting their best foot forward. Some of the best dancers in the nation were seen vying for the winning title, mesmerising the judges with their balletic moves.
Food stalls boasted delicious food items from diverse cuisines that the visitors relished along with the games and fun activities at the stalls.
The highlight of the day was the celebrity performance of the fest by India's leading indie-folk band, When Chai Met Toast. Energy was at an all-time high as soon as the band hit the stage. They charmed the audience with their extraordinary performance.
Urban Illumina by MDI was a day of fun, frolic, and sheer excitement. It sure was one hell of an event, something you just couldn’t afford to miss!

The 26th edition of this extravaganza has made a mark in the history of this institute once again! The theme of Urban Illumina was exquisite and one of a kind – “Jashn-e-Illumina”, something all of us could relate to .A host of events kept the audiences enthralled throughout the event which included the flagship events of music,disguised market research, food, games, you name it!
Like every year, Illumina was a flux of emotions running high for the members of the club. While it might have been tough at times, I am sure that I and the entire club has learned immensely and made some long-lasting bonds with the fellow team mates as well as seniors during this time. This academic year could not have seen a better beginning for Mandevians and every soul shall eagerly wait for a better, grander Urban Illumina 2023.

Urban Illumina is one of the year's first & biggest fests of MDI Gurgaon. After 2 years of conducting it online, the 26-year-old legacy was carried out in an entirely offline mode this year with great fanfare & extravaganza. This fest is one of a kind as it is equipped with conducting "disguised" Market Research for various companies through interactive games, innovative MR techniques, etc. The evening was graced by our headlining artist- "When Chai Met Toast" which made it even more mesmerising!

My journey with Illumina till now has taught me a plethora of things. From talking to the corporates, to converting sponsorships, to making the people of Pataudi village play Tambola, to running with walkie-talkies, to researching for multiple firms, Illumina has given me the opportunity to do it all.
Being a part of the corporate connect team helped me to understand the ways and means of talking to various stakeholders and persuade them to come on board, helping me to brush up my negotiation and persuasion skills.
Even though I was a part of the CC team, I got a chance to work with the different departments of the club making me understand the working in depth.
Transitioning from online to offline was challenging for the team since even our senior team had not done an offline Rural and Urban Illumina, which led us talking to the alumni of the club and understand the nuances of the event. And today, after 2 successful events, we can say that the team did a brilliant job in putting together such large scale events.
