What is home? If one looks in a dictionary the answer would come out to be, “The place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household.” However, for anyone who has had an actual home, they would know that such a term goes much beyond its concrete description. It is an impassioned aspect filled with values and foundation of nurturing. For most people the very thought of home brings fond memories, nostalgic feelings and sad emotions.
My home is in Giridih, a small district in Jharkhand. I remember the day when my family was living in a rented house. My parents had a dream of building a new house of their own. They bought the land and that is one of the happiest moments of my family. Watching the construction of my home from brick by brick which was joined using
UltraTech cement was a moment to cherish. UltraTech has helped my family built a beautiful home which has given me lots of memories. It made the foundation of my life, just like cement is the foundation of a house, my home has been a foundation for me. Whatever I am today is all because of my home and my family leaving in that beautiful home. After I completed my senior secondary education, I took admission in NIT Allahabad. For the first time in my life, I was staying away from my home. I was missing my home badly. My father gifted me my first mobile phone with an IDEA sim in it. And never have I ever felt disconnected to my family, where ever I had gone, idea was always with me and so my family. My parents was worried as I was going out for the first time but that Idea of going for higher studies at Allahabad has changed my life so far. After passing from NIT, now came the time when I got my first salary and that was very much special for me because I wanted to buy gifts for everyone in family. As soon as I got it, I started looking for the place where I can get everything under one roof, so came Pantaloons for my rescue where I went for shopping. I bought shirt for my father and my brothers, Suit for my mother and new dresses for myself. The feeling of joy and pride was memorable. That feeling of independence, strong and maturity has changed my personality. I become more confident. In every step of my life, Aditya Birla Group has helped me to grow and to live my dreams till now.
Biggest Challenge and how I overcame it
I come from a background where girl child education is not a topic to discuss in the family. Girls usually get basic education and then they get married. My parents wanted to give equal education to me as they gave it to my three elder brothers. They went against all odds and gave me equal opportunity. It posed a challenge for me to outperform and proved everyone as my parent’s decision of giving me opportunity to study was right. I took admission in my city’s best school. I worked hard and tried to be on top of my class in academics as well as in extra-curricular activities. I was ranked 3
rd at district level in my 12
th board exam and I cracked IIT-JEE as well. I was the first person in my family who cracked IIT-JEE. I took admission in NIT Allahabad and I was in top rankers in my engineering branch. In my final year of engineering, I got an offer from an IT company in Bengaluru and got an opportunity to work for a client who is global leading investment banking company. My job profile set up new challenges for me as I was not from CS/IT background. I took the challenge and learned the nitty gritty of software language quickly. I got many prizes and acknowledgement during my professional career and also got promoted early as compared to the other trainee. At every step of my journey, starting from taking admission in best school to going Bengaluru for working, I overcame the challenges and made my parents proud and will continue to do so wherever I will go.
