Part A- Aditya Birla Group, or more commonly known as ABG, is a Fortune 500 corporation with presence in 34 cities. Describing it as humongous or successful is simply an attempt to cover up for the loss of words that comes with the admiration of this mega conglomerate. The group has presence in technically all parts of life, starting from childhood till retirement.
- We go back to late 90s and early 2000s. Those were the school days when transition from healthy, nutritious breakfast to delicious, trendy brunch just started. Fruits and chapati started to face stiff competition from sandwiches, burgers, etc. However, my mother had another tension – how to keep this food from getting cold. The preparation and consumption time had a gap of 4 hours. No suitable thermos technology was there in my city. During one of those soap operas (which my mother used to watch with complete attention), she saw an advertisement regarding aluminium foil which keeps the food from getting cold and helps it to retain its nutritional value. The next day, me and my brother were introduced to Freshwrapp. From that day, till the day we carried lunch to school, it was always Freshwrapped.
- Now we move forward and it is 2013. A boy away from his home for the first time. A new smartphone, a delicacy that was not so much common back then. But which operator should I go for? I needed something that can give me coverage anywhere, anytime. The choices were few - Idea, Vodafone, Airtel, BSNL (not so much). And boy am I glad I chose Idea. I have travelled to far villages in Himachal Pradesh and not once did Idea disappointed me. To this day, the service has been awesome. I do not see myself switching to another network for another 3-4 years.
There are many other instances like my first branded clothing which was an Allen Solly shirt, my first formal clothing which was from Peter England and many more related to my relatives. But the 2 that I mentioned earlier will always be on top. Thank you ABG for being a part of my life.
Part B- My life is nothing of the sort that will make you all motivated and energetic. You will not be hearing any motivational soundtrack while reading this.
Now that the disclaimer is given, I come from a small city called Etawah in U.P. The most noteworthy contribution of my city is that it produced 2 Chief Ministers of U.P. Other than that, the city seems to be still in the late 90s. And this was the most challenging thing I faced in my life. At each and every step, the growth rate of the city was a hurdle to my dreams. Life was good. I did my 12
th from the best school in the city, completed my B. Tech in Mechanical and decided to help my father with the family business. From here, my real life began.
I used to reach at the shop by 8:30 am and remain till 9:30 pm (cheers to MBA rigor) with flexibility in lunch timings and duration (perks of own business). Those who have studied Statistics must have some idea about the arrival rate. For me, it was close to 0.5/hour. The amount of time spent on shop and its outcome was so largely mismatched, that within a month, I decided to go for higher studies. I had the full support of my parents, but I didn’t want to increase any more expenditure for my father. So, I joined some coaching in the city itself. With the pace it was going, CAT 2017 started to look like a distant dream. And leaving that coaching was the best decision of my life. I bought a test series and started giving tests everyday after 10:00 pm. Initially I had trouble in clearing my doubts, but with time, internet solved most of those problems. And now, here I am, with only 1 year remaining in my MBA.
Most of you will not find it challenging enough (disclaimer was already given), but that is my story.
