‘Why Aditya Birla Group is big in your life’ With the mission “to deliver superior value to our customers, shareholders, employees and society at large,” The Aditya Birla Group represents a veritable blend of rich heritage and contemporary modern people practices. The Group’s radical shift from being architects of a global India to a powerhouse across the globe & various sectors has now led to the understanding of how Aditya Birla Group is a big part of peoples’ lives. Started as a Jute Manufacturing Company in 1919, the group has subsequently transformed into a leading multi-product corporation covering varied business sectors including chemicals, minerals, financial services, copper, branded apparel, information technology, retail and trading.   India is the 6th largest economy in the world and Aditya Birla Group plays an important role in building it. UltraTech Cement (Aditya Birla Group) is India's largest cement company with over 6 million homes built with cement from UltraTech each year. The Bandra-Worli sea link is an exemplary testimony of ABG’s contribution towards making India beautiful and connected. Further, Aditya Birla Capital serves as a diversified portfolio of 12 lines of business serving the end-to-end financial needs of the customers. How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far Due to some incorrect business decisions, my dad lost most of his business and we were left with little. It taught me the value of money and being financially independent. Growing up with 3 sisters, our parents distributed gifts big and small equally amongst us. Now staying away from home, I cherish the gifts most when I share with my friends and colleagues. As class prefect in school, I was responsible for collating all submissions. This involved not only following up with students of my class but also be compassionate for individual situations and support my classmates where needed. It also meant a lot of negotiations with teachers. Being youngest one in family four siblings, I was always protected by my sisters’ and parents. Further, when I had to step out of the comfort of my parent's house to pursue B.Sc. in Delhi University, it was not a cake walk, to say the least. The change in atmosphere took a toll on me and my parents health conditions added to the stress. All this ultimately resulted in my falling behind in the first term of college. I have always been among the toppers in class and my entire family has a lot of expectations of me which I was not fulfilling. Hence, I decided to buckle up, took emotional support from hostel mates, guidance from siblings and was able to bring life back on track. While working at news aggregator Inshorts, there was a stint of 3 weeks where I was the only associate in my department as my colleague had a family emergency. I got the responsibility to single-handedly ensure that my team was on top of its game. I juggled with staying updated with top news, writing it, and ensuring it is error free before it was published. Making decisions alone, along with maintaining proper communication with my seniors helped me learn a great deal.
