“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.”

If you are a serious CAT aspirant, this week is extremely crucial for you. With 7 days to go, things can get a little tricky. Should I try to focus on my strong areas or spend time improving my weak ones? How many mocks should I give? We will try to answer all your questions. Ofcourse, there is no ‘One size fit all approach’. We have done a separate analysis for 2 kinds of people –
  1. Student in last year/ Graduated but not working currently
Assumption – 8 hours per day (weekday + weekend) For someone who is currently not working, their 100 percent attention should be on CAT. Utilizing your time well becomes really crucial here. For the last 7 days, refrain from mocks. Now is the time to brush up the super-important concepts, go through your prepared notes and re-attempt all the ‘wrong’ answers of previous 15-20 mocks. This re-attempt will ensure you do not make the same mistake in CAT, if at all a similar question comes.
  1. Currently employed
Assumption – 3 hours per day during the week + 6 hours during the weekend. Last 7 days – Same as above. If you are already getting high scores, try to get even better. You can do that trying to use shortcuts and looking at how experts solved the same question. Another important indicator is the “Average Time an aspirant spent on this question” Vs. the “Time you spent”. If you are spending more time, buck up and look at the ideal solution! It is important to remember, specially in the last 25 days that it is JUST AN EXAM. This will NOT make or break your future. Put in your 100 percent but do not get bogged down by the pressure. The beauty of CAT is that there can very well be a next one, and a year of experience will do you good, for CAT and profile both. There are hundreds of stories at InsideIIM, where candidates have belled the CAT in their second/third/fourth attempt. A girl literally went from as low as 39 percentile to 95+ percentile! So stay calm and work hard, and you will be able to bell the CAT! Best of luck!
