Though Aditya Birla Group was there with me since I was born but I only got acquainted with it, when I worked with an executive search firm, Aditya Birla was our client and I was given the responsibility to source employee for Sales profile for UltraTech Cement pan India, I felt overwhelmed by the large number of applications received and this intrigued me to learn more of Aditya Birla Group and particularly about Ultratech Cement, I found that UltraTech Cement holds the rank of largest producer of cements in the world and subsequently it values its employee. I remember my conversations with Mr. “Z” (have changed name to maintain anonymity) who was a HR Manager with ABG. He loved talking about his life at ABG and how he led a journey of transformation. At such a young age, with big dreams, I found myself immersed in his conversations. I ended up imagining myself in all his narrations. I researched more of its group culture and no wonder I found that it establishes certain Value Propositions in its employee that makes them feel empowered and associated. The core value of Aditya Birla Group is to make their employee more responsible by inculcating growth mindset approach, have entrepreneurial qualities, be meritocratic, empowerment to its staff and at same time care and value them. ABG was awarded best employer in India for 2018 and that was third time in the last seven years, it holds specialties in Aluminium & Copper, Cements, Viscose Staple fiber, Chemicals, Agribusiness, Financial Services, Branded Apparels, Telecom, Textiles, Retails, Carbon blacks, Mining etc and is in the league to Fortune 500 companies with an annual turnover of US $44.3 Billion. This Group always value meritocracy and aspire people to be in continuous learning phase, this research and stories have pushed me to dream bigger and it will always remain in my memory. This is what makes ABG holds a very special place in my life.
My ambition is to create my own identity in this world and at the same time stand by my Value System. It’s a lifelong challenging and learning effort for me. I am continuously working on this, as it always requires consistency, enthusiasm and self motivation. Coming from a humble background, I have always aimed to create my own identity, but this journey was not so easy, there were more hit and trials, failures than rewards. First challenge for me was Ignorance, there is no treatment for ignorance so I had to be receptive enough to recognize and work on it. Another challenge was self awareness, how soon I address it and continuously work on it, that helped me to know my shortcomings, area of improvements and strengths. The next biggest challenge was lack of mentorship, as mentorship not only channelize time, efforts and energy but also shows mirror for introspection, with time I tried searching out mentors who can guide me in the professional and personal journey. The biggest challenge was getting engulfed by gratifications, so I made it a point to always delay those gratifications as it was leading me to nowhere. I choose again to be in TISS with ODCL program, to validate myself and my last challenge to reach my ambition is Discipline, I am learning to be in discipline all the time as it edges me to be a contentious learner.
