On the eventful day of 24
th June 2019, I left my home to join my dream - Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi. It felt sad to leave the home that houses your family or the home that I have spent considerable years of my life in or the home that is so strong that is has stood the test of time – My Ultra Tech Cement home. I call my home and Ultra Tech Cement home not only because that it is built from this cement but also because the bonds of the people who reside in it are as strong as this cement.
The journey from home to IIFT wasn’t going to be easy. All the thoughts about the new place, new people and new experiences were running in my mind. However, nothing could make me lose my confidence as I was clad in my power suit from Vanheusen. It would always remain the most special piece of clothing I have as this was the suit I wore during my interview and I got selected. No matter what, it never fails to make me feel confident and comfortable.
Now, it has been approximately 2 weeks at IIFT. The days have been busy and the nights have been crazy. But in between all the frenzy, I always make it a point to call my loved ones from my Vodafone-Idea mobile network. So, when I am posed by the question “Why Aditya Birla Group” is big in my life? My answer is instant – They have touched my life in every single way I can imagine.
How I overcame the challenges?
The Ultimate Measure Of A Man Is Not Where He Stands In Moments Of Comfort And Convenience, But Where He Stands At Times Of Challenge And Controversy.
- Martin Luther King, Jr
I have faced many challenges. Some big, some small but none insurmountable. The biggest challenges I have faced is – the feeling of being discontent. 3 years ago, I wasn’t satisfied with anything in my life. I hated my grades, my weight, my surroundings. My self-esteem was falling by the day. I complained and cribbed a lot. It was the worst feeling I have ever had.
I finally decided to take control of my life and stop cribbing and complaining. I started studying harder, worked out designated specific time slots. I also meditated to have a calmer mind. Slowly and steadily, I started feeling content.
The road to feeling better was not smooth. It took almost a year to be back. But I guess it is really true when they say- Life is a journey, not a destination. I learnt a lot about myself during this period and I started to live a disciplined life and bounced back stronger.
There are a few things that I have learnt from this incident. One, Health should be amongst a top priority. Two, Each and every process takes time. Three, our loved ones always have our back. Four, Failures and setbacks are a part of life.
After all, as the great Helen Keller quoted-
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.
