I look for an answer purely from the perspective of a consumer. For me as a consumer, ABG gives a great experience. As a young college girl with a huge obsession for brands -- Pantaloons, Allen solly, Forever 21, VanHeusen etc. are my all-time favorite purchases. I am one of the Vodafone mobile subscribers since 2014 which incidentally is a part of ABG group.
ABG’s human touch, a strategic element of customer relationship management, is that one BIG Connector because of which I have becoming increasingly loyal to ABG’s products brands and services which also unswervingly provide extraordinary value . It’s no surprise, then, that ABG is already big in my life.
The ABG’s history or the big milestones it achieved since its formation in 1857, especially its size (US 44.3 billion corporation), its age (162 year old), employee work force (120,000 employees belonging to 42 nationalities), etc. also has a positive influence on me to be a part of the ABG family.
Further ABG is in an incredibly powerful position as it has taken over more and more aspects of our daily life in general which show how serious they are about being a constant presence in everything we do. They are a No. 1 fashion (branded apparel) and lifestyle player , No. 1 mobile telephony company , the 2nd largest player in viscose filament yarn ,the largest producer in the chlorine-alkali sector , No. 1 player in grey cement, white cement and concrete and a leading player in life insurance and asset management.
You look for something and ABG is there. That reminds me a Bible Verse which reads “And I will do whatever you ask in my name….”
Thank you Aditya Birla Group (ABG). You are already big in my life and you will continue to be.
How I made an impact? What odds and challenges I faced in my life to achieve my ambitions. Did I overcome it?
Well. I have read many real life stories of persons who faced many odds and challenges to become later successful in life. Many of the stories I read describe in detail how they overpowered their financial or health issues to become what they are now. I have also read/heard stories on how an average student became later successful to become a popular bureaucrat. Fortunately, I never had any such occasions and did not face major issues relating to finance or health.
I aim to become a competent professional occupying a key position in the Corporate World and therefore had to establish myself as someone qualified to accomplish that dream. Mercifully I had the unstinting support of my parents. My biggest challenge was combating the fact that elders in the family had lower aspirations for girls than for boys. I hail from a village and belong to an orthodox family, where traditionally a girl is supposed to get married say at the age of 21 after completing her basic degree, no matter whether she has alternate options Women and girls continued to face multiple barriers based on gender and its intersections with other factors in the equal enjoyment of the right to quality education. This includes barriers, at all levels, to access quality education and career path. The bigger challenge was therefore to keep my perspectives top of mind in conversations at the family level, so the mindset shift can happen. I said to myself "Be resilient that change will come."
I knew that the elders in my family will offer resistance in the future because (a) they want to protect me (b) fear of change as I will be deviating from the established norms and (c) fear of cultural change if any.
To alleviate the above fears/concerns, I decided to work on myself right from the word “Go”. As a child, my parents and teachers had already played a great role in grooming me into a good human being with values.
All I had to do was to continue being a good human strictly adhering to the value system and thereby cultivating a network of elders in the family who understood my talents and the value/culture system I follow and who knew what I am capable of achieving if I am allowed to pursue my dreams.
Around the time I was ready for higher education, there was no resistance from any elders who were all supportive even though I had to travel miles away from my native place and live in hostels. I am glad and feel so proud that I was able to create an impact on my elders through demonstrating my real self.
I am now pursuing my MBA in a prestigious B School, living in a hostel far away from my native place and on my way to accomplishing my dreams to become a competent management professional.
Nothing is impossible.
