I was born in a closely-knit joint family and we all lived under one roof. I created some of the most beautiful memories in that house. All my birthdays up to the age of 10 were celebrated in that same drawing room and each birthday was special. Everyday I spent playing, fighting and sharing food with my cousins. We played pranks on our elders and got scolded for it as well but we did it all together, the fun times, the bad times and everything in between. Even though we don’t live together anymore all those memories will always stay very close to my heart. Every corner of that house is still very fresh in my memory and these very cherished memories are given to me by Ultratech cement.
Now that I think of how big ABG is in my life, I can think of so many things. My favourite apparel brands belong to ABG, my cupboard is filled with clothes from Pantaloons and Forever 21 and I could not have started my MBA journey without a business suit from Van Heusen. In today’s time, one cannot function without internet and Vodafone-Idea ensures that I have fast broadband connection in the city of Bhubaneswar at all times. With digitalisation on rise, we need a trustworthy platform for making online payments and that’s when Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank comes to the picture, I make most of my payments today using this platform only.
So, this is how ABG impacts my everyday life directly but there are numerous ways in which ABG impacts me indirectly by making the society we live in a better place. ABG works in 5000 villages, it runs 5000 medical camps and 20 hospitals and has treated over a million patients. It operates 56 schools for 46,500 school children and also provides midday meals every day for 63,000 children in 268 schools along with solar lamps for 4,50,000 school children.
HOW PASSION FUELED ME TO OVERCOME CHALLENGES
A life without challenges is a life not lived to the fullest. Challenges helps us in bringing out those qualities that we never thought we possessed. Challenges also test how passionate we are to achieve whatever we desire. One such challenge I faced in life was when I entered my college in Delhi University.
I have been a passionate dancer right from my childhood and I could not participate much in my school time because of studies. I knew that this would change once I enter my college as I would be exposed to ample opportunities and I had made up my mind to exploit those opportunities to the fullest. One such opportunity was to be a part of the Dance society of the college and compete with the best dancers of the country but to my utter disappointment, I found out that there was no western dance society in SGTB Khalsa. I was disheartened but that didn’t stop me or break my spirit. My passion for dancing and desire to achieve my ambition pushed me to start Etram, the Western Dance Society of SGTB Khalsa along with fellow like-minded dancers. However, this was only the beginning and a whole lot of challenges awaited us.
Since it was a new society, people were not very familiar with it and so we were not getting a lot of registrations. We, then, worked very hard to spread the word and call out all the dancers waiting for an opportunity. We had to also encourage people who had stage fright to come out and showcase their talent. We managed to get decent number of applications after the first week of our campaign. Our next big challenge was team building because we did not have any prior experience in this and making 20 odd people, from diverse backgrounds, work together was not a very easy task. However, the one thing that united us all was our passion for dancing and slowly and steadily we overcame all of these challenges. There were times when we did not have support even from the admin team of our college but we stayed together as a team and overcame every challenge that came our way with utmost diligence and passion and managed to establish a name for ourselves.
My experience with Etram has made me who I am today, confident and fearless.
