Vodafone-Idea Limited: A hope through the storm
It was the morning of May 3
rd, clouds hovering over the sky making the light deem. A very swift stream of wind whistling through the door and window of my house. Everything was normal, anticipation as well as anxiety was moderate too. All including me were prepared for another moderate windy storm that we’ve witnessed in numbers through the years, but alas! It wasn’t the same after all. My father is a government doctor and was posted as the nodal officer for the storm, he left very early that morning to a community health centre for auditing the preparedness. By the time it struck 9, something wasn’t feeling right, there was a gruesome eeriness in the surrounding, the wind grew faster, sound of bombarding doors and windows shattered the house, with time it only got worse, humongous branches from distant trees came and hit the house out of the blue.
Two hours hence, everything wa calm as a millpond, but the city I knew was nothing the same. Yes, I’m taking about Puri, Odisha the most affected town in the horrifying storm ‘FANI’. I and my mother were desperately calling on my father’s phone but every try ended in vain as there were no single mobile tower which had survived the wrath of the mighty FANI. Seconds, minutes and hours passed but there was no network to be found. After a desperate wait of 31 long hours I finally got a signal in my Idea sim and that was the only network which got functional at that time. The Samaritans of Aditya Birla Group managed to erect a temporary tower in the town. Finally! The ring from my phone was able to reach my father’s Idea sim to hear that he was safe and already reached the headquarters. My father as well was relieved to hear that we were in our good health. My family has been using idea network since long and for the due diligence and responsiveness of Aditya Birla Group, my family’s tension at such a horrific time came to relief and that’s why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far
By the time I was in my 10
th class, I wasn’t giving much effort at my academics or lifestyle. I could score marks easily without putting much of an effort so didn’t care about any long term value addition to my life or my knowledge. Everything seemed to be granted and life was very easy. The wrath of my parents were of no use to me, I was the master of my own will. It didn’t strike to me why my parents focussed to put much more efforts on my academics and habits so much. I was a trained classical singer and by God’s grace I was very good at it. I stood 2
nd in state level singing competition without putting much effort or hard work. But the day my 10
th result got declared it was a shock to me, I couldn’t perform the way I expected, the marks on my computer screen were despicable for me. I also saw my talent in music lost into oblivion, all thanks to my over-confidence and taking everything as granted, I have quit taking professional training in singing by then. For the first time it felt like I was losing everything important in life. Starting from that day, I tried to assess my faults and shortcoming and the more I explored the more shortcomings came up. Procrastination, insincerity, free will and overconfidence were my prime enemy. From that day since, I promised to change the way I was and become a better person altogether. I started by organizing my life pertaining to a routine schedule and be more serious about the academics. Previously, the suggestions which were bothering me later proved to be the boons for my change. I started to take every criticism and comments seriously and tried to implement them in a positive way. It was hard! Really hard! Changing age long habits wasn’t that easy after all. But thanks to my adamant commitment, it became a natural and felt like a part of my everyday life. Two years since then, another result was before my computer screen and it was my 12
th results, there was a feeling of satisfaction and trust me all the things that I did was worth it. I still continue to follow all the ground rules till now and it has never defied me. I scored good in my graduation, I was also able to crack the B-school of my choice and to augment all this, I came back as a better singer than I was before and that’s how I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far.
