If you are reading this with the your business suits on, there’s a high chance that it’s a Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Peter England or Grasim. The walls of the room might have been made using UltraTech Cement. The next call that is made is through Idea/Vodafone network. What all of these have in common, all of them are associated with Aditya Birla Group.

Aditya Birla Group affects millions of lives in 35 countries. With a work force of 120,000, it’s the third largest Indian private sector conglomerate with $44.3 billion in revenue in 2018. From apparel retail such as pantaloons to the food-grade aluminium foil used every day in Indian households, Aditya Birla Group not only shelters the needs of day to day customers, but its impact is far beyond our imaginations.    Indo gulf and Hindalco fertilizers under Aditya Birla Group are one of the biggest fertilizer manufacturers in India, Aditya Birla Capitals and its subsidiaries have its strongholds in the spheres of financing, mutual funds and insurance thereby assisting us to attain the food on our tables, the roof over our heads and the clothes we wear.   In-spite of being the largest producers of carbon black, epoxy and viscose staple fibre widely used in tires, water proofing and apparels respectively, it ensures strict environmental norms in its production facilities and also have one of the most energy efficient production units. With a vision for sustainable economy growth, the group is also a member of Global Compact that works under the aegis of the United Nations.    Other than affecting customers, it has went beyond businesses and Aditya Birla Group through its CSR activities has brought vast changes in the rural India. Its outreach in 5000 villages has affected 7.5 million people and provided facilities in the fields of healthcare, mid-day meals, education and skill trainings thereby giving back to the community.      How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far   Right from school, I understood the subjects at hand easily which in turn helped me get good grades in class with minimal efforts. Due to this, I got confident about scoring in examinations. I got excellent scores in class 10thand 12thand by the time I got into a good engineering college I grew over-confident.    By the end of the second year in the university, this over-confidence reflected badly on my grades and posed as the biggest challenge I ever faced. What was tougher than overcoming it was recognising the fact that it was my over-confidence that led to the downfall of my grades which I realised only by the end of the third year when I met with an accident during my examinations. It made me retrospect my past few years and it made me understand the problem.    I started to work on it and in the final year of my college, I was one of the top students of my batch. It also helped me pursue my projects in the field that I admire the most. However, final year grades could not help me improve upon my overall score a lot but I learned that periodic retrospection and self-reflection is very important for me to grow as a person and that I should never take things for granted.   I also acquired a clear perspective into my future endeavours and my perseverance and tenacity got me into one of the top Business schools in the country. This would provide me a direct path to achieving my aspiration of being an entrepreneur.
