Aditya Birla Group (ABG), a name known to many as one of the big business houses of the country. But not many are cognizant of the fact how it really touches their lives, that too to an extent beyond which they can relate. Origin of Aditya Birla Group lies century before Country’s independence from colonial rule. Since then, numerous businesses have been setup indifferent industries, which were brought together under the umbrella of Aditya Birla Group.
But have we wondered, how ABG and its products are connected to our life? Be assured, next few lines of this article will bring out the moments of my and, even yours, past and ongoing journey under the umbrella of ABG’s products.
I and many kids of my generation have grown up carrying their ‘Ghar ka Khaana’ to school, wrapped in freshwrapp aluminium foil, a product by Hindalco industries of ABG. I have seen my father, dressing up in formals for office and making a point to purchase them from different brand names, such as Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, Van Heusen, once or twice in every six months. All these fancy names, have been individual organisations for me, until I was surprised knowing, that, all of them are owned by Aditya Birla group. And why only my father, even I for my clothing and fashion needs have mostly preferred to shop at ABG owned fashion retail store, Pantaloons, with multiple brands at my front under the same roof. Ultratech Cement, an India cement company by ABG has been a cement supplier for numerous national infrastructure projects, that have stood the test of time, most famous being the Bandra-Worli Sea link in Mumbai. It has been branded as the Engineer’s choice, where the model in their endorsement created a make-believe image of an engineer in the minds of many budding engineers, and yes, before I forget, engineering has been my choice too, for my graduation. Anyways, how many of us can remember, humming to the tunes of “You’re my pumpkin pumpkin, hello honey bunny”? The jingle was a part of TV ad campaign by Idea cellular, a telecom arm of ABG, now merged with Vodafone, thus creating India’s largest telecom company. And to this, I would say “What an Idea Sirjee”. Not only this, Idea Cellular has also been an official sponsor of Kaun Banega Crorepati, one of the longest running TV show, which turned the fortunes of many contestants participating in it.
Interestingly, I can feel, how ABG has been big in my life, by adding up the moments of its’ products and services’ presence, to take care of my needs and preferences. Why only me, it is somewhere a part of many people not only in India, but worldwide too, and not just with products and services mentioned above, but also in other segments of business, such as financial services, textiles, working for welfare and development of society through its CSR initiatives and by providing employment to more than 1lakhemployees globally.
