“The Way Forward- Evolve Everyday” The tagline of Van Heusen, a brand of Aditya Birla Group. This one line was a major turning point in my life. This line, though subtle and crisp, delivers an extremely powerful and vital message for the toddlers and old alike. Everyone has to take a step forward everyday to become a better version of themselves. No one is perfect. Evolving from our previous blunders and mistakes will definitely help us become better individuals. Being an ardent follower of Swami Vivekanananda, the following saying has greatly inspired me, “Arise, Awake, and Stop not till your goal is reached.” This quote resonates with the tagline of the brand of Aditya Birla Group. It holds a special place for me since it is deeply interlinked with the values and morals in me. Since my very childhood, products from the Aditya Birla Group have been an important part of my life. My mother packing my “pooris” in the Freshwrapp aluminium, Ultratech cement being used for the construction of my house and buying my first suit for my graduate school from Van Heusen. Not only this, Freshwrapp has been a primary product in my father’s business who is a C & F agent and deals in supplying its foil packaging to HUREKA. Aditya Birla Group has revolutionized our lifestyle. Brands like Allen Solly, Pantaloons and Louis Philippe have completely altered our way of fashion. I still remember all the girls going gaga over the newly opened store of Forever 21 in my hometown, Lucknow, and rushing like crazy to buy the last sizes for themselves and some just picking up tops because of the best prints and designs they had seen, and calling them “goals tops”. Aditya Birla Group has spread its reach across various sectors and improved the way of life and this is surely just “The beginning of good things” and surely in the coming years the conglomerate is bound to reach even greater heights. Being a not-so-studious student, I had never imagined I would pursue Mathematics in my intermediate. But eventually I landed up with Science with Economics, one of the rare combinations people choose. Physics was my Achilles heel and I had a hard time understanding the concepts of the same. I literally struggled to somehow get passing marks in Physics. Since class 11th I had realized that to score well I had to put in extra efforts else if my basics would not be strong, understanding the concepts in 12th standard would be a herculean task. In the process of trial and error of seeing what method would work and what would not, I realized the importance of planning and making a schedule of whatever I have to do. I divided my day into parts of when I had to do what and adhered to it strictly. Initially it took a toll on me but then it became a habit. From getting 58 in Physics, I eventually landed up with a 96 in my Board examinations in Physics. Since then I have made it a habit for myself to plan and schedule things beforehand instead of panicking and freaking out at the last moment. Planning helped my sail through my graduation years quite well and with it, I could simultaneously prepare for my post-graduate entrance examinations. Planning should be given due importance so that all our work is completely under control. Indeed, the lines by Benjamin Franklin hold true- “If you are failing to plan, then you are planning to fail.”
