Aditya Birla Group started its journey in 1919 as a Jute manufacturing company and as of today, it has transformed itself into a multi-billion dollar conglomerate, an Indian multinational giant that provides services in chemicals, telecom services, metals and what, not? My life is dependent upon many of ABG’s subsidiaries’ Products. I would like to name few of the brands which are associated with ABG which have touched my life.
- Hindalco: My school days were related to Hindalco as my mother used to wrap my tiffin with Hindalco’s freshwrapp foils. To this day I remember my mum’s savoury dishes coming out of the foil hours later, still fresh and then turning the foil into a ball and playing with it along with my friends.
- Louis Philippe and Peter England: I gave my campus first interview in college for placements wearing a Louis Philippe shirt and Peter England trouser. To this day I have the pair in my possession and I wore for all my college interviews as well.
- UltraTech Cement: Known as the “Engineers choice”, UltraTech cement has been doing exceptionally well in terms of its quality product for construction. My house too was constructed by using this cement. Ultratech has also been a great supporter of Indian cricket, having sponsored multiple events.
- Vodafone India and idea: One of the finest, seamless and the most reliable network that I have ever used. It also happens to be the best network to use inside the NITIE campus and is a life saver time and again whenever the college WIFI goes out.
At the end, I would like to thank to Aditya Birla Group for staying with me at each and every stage of my life and for making the journey so beautiful.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
I remember those days during my 12th standard when the Boards and Entrance Examinations were knocking on the door and I was quite worried. My pre board results were just out and I had under performed in that. I was starting to feel the heat but, I always had the belief that hard work along with smart work will pay and began planning in a structured manner and made a list of all the chapters from the syllabus that I had to cover and assigned certain deadlines for the same. This helped me in keeping track of my progress and also gave me confidence once I kept reaching my short term goals. And this way, I was eventually able to do pretty well in both my XII Boards as well as Entrance Examinations that got me admission in a prestigious engineering college.
The Next big challenge came after my graduation when I had completed over an year at my company and my goal was to crack CAT. I gave the exam in 2017 but underperformed. I was really frustrated but decided to go at it one final time the subsequent year. I did not take up any coaching classes, did not buy any online test series, just followed a couple of books and backed myself to do well. At the end of 2018, I gave CAT and scored 98.65 percentile. Subsequently, I prepared for the college selection processes myself and was able to make it to NITIE Mumbai, the college that was on top of my priority list.
So, I learnt that it is very important to set realistic goals and if you strive for it hard, everyday. There is nothing that can stop one from fulfilling their dreams and achieving great things.
