It was the time when my board exams were going on and like every class 12
th student, I had studied the whole year for my boards. Now I was someone who was the lucky one. By lucky I mean, I could afford the private tuitions and study in the best possible environment, with the best possible books and guidance provided to me by my school teachers and tuition teachers. But everyone is not that lucky or privileged in life. And when I am saying this, I am talking about a teenage boy named Karan. Karan was the son of our regular greengrocer, who used to come in our locality to sell vegetables with his father. Karan had faced so many challenges in his life, but I never saw an inch of wordiness on his face. Since he and I were in same class, we used to have many conversations related to studies, and I could clearly see him doing better than me throughout class 12
th. I had everything under my service, and Karan had nothing to boast off but his intellectual mind. No private tuitions or private school, but despite all these things he was well on his course to become the first ray of light for his family.
But alas, life seemed to have other plans for him. It was the months of February, just 20 days before our board exams, where he got diagnosed with typhoid. His father told me that he was having difficulty in studies and he was not able to go to school too, to study and clear his doubts. He was worried as board exams were on the edge. And that’s where Aditya Birla Group came to rescue Karan.
Thanks to the Extra Idea Sim that I had; he was able to access the internet without any difficulty. YouTube became his best friend for the next 20 days because of which he was able to revise everything, clear his doubts, despite being bed ridden.
He finally gave his exams, and had scored a whopping 93% in 12
th exams. Every time he talks about that time, he never fails to mention how Idea Internet had helped him. Yes, Aditya Birla Group was big in my life, because it allowed me to help someone else and achieve the goals and aspirations in one’s life.
Big Challenges that Matter
Ambitions play a very important role in your life. Whether you decide your ambition at the age of 12 or when you’re 20 or even later in your life, it’ll help you add some meaning in your life. It gives your life a purpose you can uphold to. But nothing comes easy for anybody in this world. There are always some challenges, hurdles, obstacles that come your way when you want to achieve something in life. There are many such challenges that have come in my way too, and here I have shared one such experience.
It was one fine evening when I was brushing my teeth after dinner and I realized one side of my face not moving properly. I was not able to feel any senses. After consulting to the doctor next day, I got diagnosed with facial nerve palsy, in which one side of your face gets paralyzed. My mind and heart were in shock as to what I was going to do, since that was in the beginning of my class XI
th, where I had chosen commerce as my stream. The doctor had strictly asked me to stay home for the next 2 months as I was not allowed to have contact with the air outside.
I was not able to chew food properly, my eyesight of one eye was reduced tremendously, I had constant headaches and ear pain, and the worst of all, my face had moved to one side, so I was too conscious to smile or talk to anybody because of this. My studies and sports (I was the captain of my school basketball team) were hampered. But I did not give up. Whenever I felt fine physically, I used to study and sometimes read books. My family was with me all the time. My friends used to visit me at home regularly, updating everything about school and all the other events.
1 month at home went fine, but the real challenge was when I had to join back school. My face was still not in perfect shape, and I decided to not go to school because of this. It was my headmistress who later talked to me and asked me to join the school back and hence I went back. I was extremely proud that I took that decision, because I wouldn’t have known that I could handle that emotional phase in my life so strongly. All my teachers and friends supported me, they had confidence in me, which helped me build my confidence, and I passed that phase in my life believing in myself that I can do this.
So, the mantra is to believe in yourself. If you have confidence within you, there is no challenge or obstacle that can stop you to achieve your goals. You will always find answers to your questions.
