Work Hard and Dream Big ABG #BigInYourLife - IIM Kashipur

Aditya Birla Group, the name that is so omnipresent that every child recognizes the name. Flashback to the age of 12-15, when I didn’t know the ABG brand but used to think why there is a same logo shown at the end of different commercials. Does only one group owns all these companies? Or does the logo mean something else? Were the questions in my mind at the time.  Fast forward to today I get amazed how big the group has become. Everyone in India knows how big the group is, but you really get to know its pervasiveness when you have a look at the statistics:

• Every 3^rd aluminium can is made from Novelis aluminium
• The tire in every 2^ndcar in the world has Birla carbon
• They sell 2 garments every second
• World’s 2^ndlargest telecom operator

… and the list goes on. How many conglomerates in the world can boast of such statistics?  Today while writing this article, I looked around to my room and observed how big ABG in my life is. Louis Phillipe shirts in my wardrobe, Vodafone in my mobile, sipping drink from an aluminium can.   Yes, Aditya Birla group is so big and touches millions of lives, but how it touched those lives is what makes me respect it. The contribution to the social and economic development of the communities through its CSR activities is what differentiates the industrialists from mere businessmen.   How I overcame challenges to achieve ambitions in my life so far   I was a satisfied person when I joined HCL Technologies Ltd. as a fresher. Things were going great, doing my work with passion and getting appreciations from the management. There were times when I was required to put long hours into the work.  The challenges began when the passion in me to do MBA from an IIM took root. Juggling work with preparation was not easy. It was all the more difficult when the expectations from me were so high.  What I have learned from my experience is that its not the challenge that defeats you but your attitude towards that challenge. A challenge is not supposed to be easy, that’s why it is called a challenge. After many bad experiences I learnt to keep a positive attitude and learnt that anything can be accomplished if we break it into small manageable parts. Now whenever I face a challenge, I keep my cool and try to divide it into small doable tasks. This attitude has guided me to reach IIM Kashipur and will surely help in my future ambitions.
