Part A – Dreams Lived and Loved Having a house of own is everyone’s dream in his life. My father had the same vision 10 years back. He had a dream to build his own house, A house which can give me a safe childhood and my life a strong foundation. Ultratech Cement has helped us in building our home, building ourselves which made me the person who I am today. Likewise, there are many examples where Aditya Birla Group has touched the lives of millions of people. Whether it is travelling with your friends or clicking photos in your smartphones, Aditya Birla is embedded in each and every step of the way. During our childhood days I used to remember how the freshwrapp has kept my lunch warm, how many of my friends would wait for me in canteen to get that hot and steamy food. I still remember when I got my first salary and with that feel of joy I got my father Van Heusen Shirt. I always feel that support that sense of confidence in me whenever I used to wear my Peter England shirt and because of that I was able to achieve greater ambitions of my own and landed up over here in IIFT. Today as an MBA student I can relate myself with the values of Aditya Birla Group, whether it is taking decisions with integrity or fulfilling the commitment with passion and speed. I can learn to work in synergy while promoting organizational unity Part B – Never Give UP It was a beautiful February morning. I could feel the warm sunrays trying to reach me making their way through the dense fog. I had finished one hectic year in my previous job and was waiting for my next assignment. My manager came up to me and assigned me a diff tool to work upon and told me that I need to deliver it till the end of the week. As fully unaware of the situation of what this process is all about, what I need to do and whom should I contact with, I was in a great dilemma. As I didn’t want to be sound so naïve in taking up the tasks to my manager. I have taken this opportunity to be the one where I could prove my capability and my worth of being promoted to the next level. I reached out to my team members and asked for help if they can guide me on something. Being so helpful they guided me of what needs to be done, but the challenge has not been overcome till yet. On the very next day my manager was out for a meeting with the client so I need to give my report which I was not aware of to the onshore members. So at that point of time I was totally helpless, I can’t just put off my work on others, I need to take the responsibility and need to show that work kind of attitude that I am the person that they can rely upon. On the starting of the call I let know of my onshore members of what I can deliver them and what they can expect from me, so that there will be no miscommunication will be there. Being honest about my knowledge and my work they were satisfied that their work is in the right hands and also they have given the positive feedback from their side to my manager. This experience taught me many things and I came out of it as a better person. With the situation now under control, I knew another challenge was waiting down the road. It was September and it was time to gear up for my dream- MBA.
