Deloitte Campus Maverick is a national level case study competition that connects industry with academia by inviting the management students to work on current day business scenarios and proposing feasible solutions to the situation at hand. The competition which is conducted in more than 130 leading business schools across India encourages the spirit of team work since the registrations take place as a team with a maximum of 3 participants.

Held over three well- designed stages, the fifth edition Campus Maverick observed 15,500 registrations with 2,200 case study submissions. The 104 shortlisted teams advanced to the regional round which will take place at four different regional levels - East, West, North and South. The East Regional Round was hosted by Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar on August 29, 2016.

A total of 26 teams were shortlisted from the leading business schools in the eastern region. Out of these, seven teams from various business schools including IIM Calcutta, IIM Ranchi, IIM Shillong, XIMB and XLRI found there place in the stage finals. These teams presented their cases to the esteemed panel of judges consisting of stalwarts working in different functions of Deloitte. Each team was thoroughly evaluated with 3 minutes being allotted to them for presentation and 2 minutes for a question and answer round by the panel. The presentations proposed innovative solutions for the current day business challenges to the panel.

The War of the Bands was another attraction of the day in which two teams from IIM Shillong and IIM Raipur belted out songs that found the audience grooving to their tune. IIM Shillong emerged as the winner. In between all this, Roll the Reel Submission from SIMS and IIM Indore was also shown to the audience and on audience demand, IIM Indore was judged as the winner with their video aiming at giving back to the society through imparting  education to the underprivileged sections of the society. Deloitte’s initiative to encourage students to share their inspiring stories with the world through ‘Be The One’ captured the heart of the audience and motivated people to think beyond their personal goals in life to address the problems plaguing the society . By the latter half of the event, social media pages of students were abuzz with the hash tag #CampusMaverick. The event kept the XIMB students engaged throughout by coming up with spontaneous fun contests like the most number of push ups. All in all, the liveliness of the event kept the students fully charged, anticipating the results of the case study.

The result of the case study competition was announced in the closing minutes of the event. Mythical Managers from XIMB and Kugel Blitz from IIM Calcutta were adjudged as the winners of the east regional round and hence have secured their place in the National Level finals of Maverick that is scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on September 16, 2016. Heartiest congratulations to the winners. May the best team win.
