Inspired highly by Harvey Spectre reaching heights, I got myself into one of the prestigious B-school Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar and just like my reel-life inspiration I came down carrying my
"greenback boogie". Little did I know how my stay here will not be less than any other lovable series you can think of.
First day and I heard
"Pivot, pivot, pivot!!!!" cry a guy carrying his mattress from one building to the other, much to the dismay of his friend who looked completely clueless. After giving him a hand, I finally went up to my room and there was my roommate Sahaja sitting and waiting for me, highly excited about the new place, she insisted me to join her in a campus tour. Tired after a day long shifting, I denied, but she insisted saying, "
Come on just 2 minutes! I will show you our campus in a 2 minute date with your roommate!" And my journey began with 2 minutes and I was sold.
Days began, with me hanging out with my gang after classes, in the exact same spot X-Cafe ordering the exact same things joking over
"That's what she said" and crying over the troubles, and consoling each other saying,
"Welcome to the real world. It sucks. You're gonna like it" over an occasional Cosmopolitan on heart breaks and happiness.
Not everything was sweet, I met my fair share of arch enemies soon enough, but when time came (the Louis Litt of my story) turned out to be the perfect friend and came to my aid saying
"I can't stand it, but it's part of the family"
And soon among new friendships, of my very own Joey, Rachael and Phoebe, I found the Jim to my Pam over the song of
"Sing by Travis", the Chandler to my Monica and life took a turn from assignments and case studies to Sunday brunch and late-night walks.
In the middle of committee work and academics, I grew up from a struggling Carrie Bradshaw to a confident Miranda Hobbes re-iterating
"Don't forget to love yourself first" and realizing,
"Maybe you have to let go of who you are to become who you will be"
Life in XIMB is still a long way to go but with great friends who already seem like a family, days are simpler and I know they will be there for me...
"When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month
Or even your year, but
'll be there for you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be there for you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be there for you
('Cause you're there for me too)"
