The Day was the 29th of March 2018, and it was early in the morning when I woke up with a dream. A dream clustered around a small hope I was pinned to for the last few days. Results of Interviews of many different B-Schools were being released. I was waiting for my turn, waiting for the day I will get a call from a B-School, and finally that very day the dream was about me getting a mail from XIMB Admissions Office about my selection. I woke up with that thought and went to my college for classes, I was pursuing engineering as my degree. Classes got over and I was returning to my room when I got a call from a friend informing that the results of XIMB are out. I was nervous, apparently, I could feel each beat of my heart. I opened my mailbox and the mail on top was from XIMB. I opened with lots of hope and dreams at stake, and what I saw, I could not believe. I had goosebumps. The best thing about that day was I got what I dreamt of and that very moment I realized, the journey of XIMB was not far.

I was clear about my choice from the beginning. An excellent campus, great alumni network, excellent facilities and proper infrastructure. Apart from all this the advantage of being in your home state. XIMB has been part of Odisha's history, giving the world a bunch of excellent managers. I chose to be here so that even i could join that league of excellence. The process of admission started with a pre-course assignment given to us which was really interesting. It was to be submitted to our roll senior and hence led to our 1st bond in XIMB. A judge, A Guide and most importantly a brother in this new family. They helped us in the Pre-Course assignment and hence the journey started at full pace. Every day we had classes and evenings were filled with activities ranging from sports to cultural events. The XIMB family grew in between all this, with each activity more friends were made more relationships were created. It has been early 3 weeks in this campus but not a single day has gone dull. Many of you might be wondering why this guy has put his name in the title. And as it isn’t common to all, Pratyush in Odia means Dawn, and XIMB has been that in my life. Which ABG company would I like to work for and why? Hindalco will be the company I would choose to join if I get into the vast Aditya Birla Group. Why?  A simple way to put it is that it is HINDALCO, the largest Aluminium manufacturer in India. Also, Hindalco has some captive power plants. Being a graduate of electrical engineering, I have some domain knowledge about power plants starting from optimal generation to efficient distribution. Having a background in engineering will be an advantage for me when I work in this sector. I will understand the technical aspect of the problem and will try to give a solution. Taking an example, if Hindalco wishes to make the power generation more cost-effective what can it do? People may suggest going for cheaper power. I would say cut the losses in transmission by using high capacity transmission network, will directly save power but indirectly save the money and energy for the future. - Pratyush Raj BM 1st year, XIMB
