XLRI Jamshedpur, 15th November, 2013: Ensemble 2013, XLRI’s flagship annual business summit started with a bang with a grand inauguration ceremony yesterday. The guest of honour for the event was Mr. Anand Sen, President of Tata Steel’s TQM and Steel business. The event was presided over by Fr. James Santhanam, Dean of Student Affairs and Prof. Pranabesh Ray, Dean of Academics at XLRI. Mr. Sen immediately struck a rapport with the students gathered at the Fr. Prabhu Hall with his acknowledgement of the importance of the theme ‘Ideate Radically, Grow Sustainably’. He further urged the student mix to think simple and not confuse ideation with complication. Day 1 was marked by the start of the spotlight event, Tata Administrative Services(TAS) ‘Next Gen Leader’ which aims to discover leadership potential in the bright minds of the youth across top institutions such as IIM-A, IIM-L, IIM-B, IIM-I, XLRI, SPJAIN, IMT, MDI, XIMB and IIM-S. The event spread over 3 days is presented by TAS, the title sponsor for Ensemble and TAS will be granting a direct GD shortlist for the winner who also bags Rs. 1 lakh in prize money. The business events in the Industrial Relations and Marketing domain were also flagged off in style.
It’s not all work though and the balance was provided by the informal events which saw immense participation from the students. The TAS Lounge and JLT was milling with students participating in a range of competitions and adventure games. The Hindi play, Taj Mahal Ka Tender and the comedy how by the immensely popular ‘The Viral Fever’ had the audience in splits. In its quest to deliver higher standards of excellence, the Entrepreneurship Cell at XLRI in association with Google hosted an entrepreneurship summit exclusively for women.
The three-day extravaganza will run until the 17th of November and will fittingly conclude with a pro-

Ayyappa Swamy, the convenor of the event reported that over 1500 teams from business schools across the nation such as IIM-A, IIM-B, IIM-L, SP Jain, IIM-S and MDI among others are converging for a series of challenging competitions totalling over 20 Lakhs in prize money. The partners for this edition include Tata Administrative Services, State Bank of India, Airtel, Aditya Birla Group, Accenture, Aircel, Cognizant, IDBI Bank, HPCL, BIG FM, Allen Solly, Kingfisher, Safe Express and Freecharge. Ticket sales for the popular night by Papon on the 17th at the XLRI gate from 5 to 8 pm. The line-up for day 2 of Ensemble includes business events in the field of marketing and operations, the next stages of TAS Next Gen Leader, an English play by XLRI’s theatre group, rock performance by Bodhi Tree band and a Spicmacay workshop.
