What is this 999? Is it a helpline number? Is it a price of some placement file? Is it a discount coupon? For those who don’t know, it’s the scorecard of your 10th, 12th and graduation exams. Yes, the scorecard. You will go into an existential crisis. Would you have thought about doing an MBA in your class 10? Had you been so clear in class X, you wouldn’t have taken up engineering at first, right? (Please don’t kill me for this). This article is for those who:
- Think that clean sweeping with triple 9 in all the academic exams is the ONLY criteria to succeed.
- People who listen to the ones mentioned in point (1) above and curse themselves for a thing that can’t be changed now.
Without wasting time, let me just clear somethings here for you. If you are in the first category of people, very well, you have spent your time efficiently and aced every exam you appeared for. You deserve to enjoy the taste of your success and you have all the rights to be proud of it. The only thing you need to be careful about is not to get complacent enough even for future challenges.
For the second category, celebrate the success of your friends who fall into point 1, but remember that it doesn’t concern your career. Your life has so many dimensions and so does your CV. You might have been an average student in academics with a much better extracurriculars, confidence, communication skills, creativity and whatnot. Just like our fingerprints, we all are different. You do not need to compare yourself on the one parameter, and this is what a recruiter would do. The companies look for uniqueness in you and this can come up from thousands of other dimensions. Remember, all that glitters is not gold. Create your own path, your own value, showcase your talent to the world, develop new skills, collaborate with others, and most importantly, do not try to become ‘someone else’ because maybe that someone else really wants to be you. All the best. You have made it to this point. You will also make it to your ultimate dreams. Just trust your own self.
