Daunting Subject Of Accounting Principles Made Easy – XIMB

A combination of the top quality course curriculum, infrastructure and campus life with full of student-driven fascinating activities, makes the campus experience an impeccable one. These enable the institution to consistently provide 100% summer placements and stellar final placements in a city like Bhubaneswar, which may be viewed by many as not very metropolitan. The Jesuit campus produces highly disciplined all-round management and an enviable students’ pool. I filtered my choice by looking at the school’s reputation, where XIMB is carrying a 31-year-old legacy and it is in the process of getting an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation. So I found this is the best B-school that I could have got into.

A memorable classroom experience in my B-School

College life is a blessing for everyone as it is the most happening yet challenging phase of our life. “The task of a university is the creation of the future, so far as rational thought and civilized modes of appreciation can affect the issue” by Alfred North Whitehead. After I overcame the first days, which are considered to be the most hectic, with registration, orientation, ice-breaking sessions, pre-course assignments, case studies and finally settling down in a new place; our classes started. I entered the coveted classroom of my dream b-school with lots of excitement. The professor entered 2 minutes before the class starts and locked the door from inside, exactly on time. We eventually got to know that he is very strict and not going to compromise on late coming. Some of the students couldn’t even enter the classroom; his angry face at that time was unforgettable. Although this experience was horrendous for those students; this policy of making someone learn punctuality and discipline proved to be highly effective and valuable. After that, there was no instance where people used to enter late. Within a span of one and a half hour, we learned so many things from classroom behaviour to traits that would help in getting the highest grade possible to how to aim and get the best placement. The class was of one of the most daunting subjects, i.e. “Accounting Principles”. Surprisingly the professor started from the scratch in layman’s terms and he made us realised that the fear that used to emanate for the subject was completely gone. Personally, I felt that his way of teaching helps me to lean more towards working with accounts and finance by interconnecting whatever I have learned so far from my past work experience. Moreover, I also got to know about my celebrity batch mates like one has already completed his CA and CFA before entering here, one is the Miss Alma Fiesta’2013 and one has won 1.6 lakh rupees in Kaun Banega Crorepati and so forth, which makes my 2 years of b-school life worth spending.

Which ABG company I would want to work for and why

I would like to grab the opportunity to work in the financial advisory services of Aditya Birla Capital. Previously I have experience in dealing with alternative investment funds, their structures, and deal-making capabilities. I aspire in delivering my knowledge in managing private equity and venture capitals funds for global investors and limited partners at a large scale. The best thing I discovered that the company has a market capitalization of billion dollars and upright stock growth. So, I do not want to miss the chance to be a part of the best heightening financial services leader in the market.
