The IIFT exam is one of the biggest exams of the MBA admissions season in India, serving as a gateway to the MBA-IB program at one of IIFT's Delhi, Kolkata, and Kakinada campuses. A two hour test, this exam tests candidate's time management abilities as well as their aptitude for an intensive MBA program. So what kind of score can get you an IIFT interview shortlist? To present an indication of how much you may need to score in IIFT, here's a break down of the IIFT 2019 score versus percentile along with the actual cut-offs set by IIFT for admission to the batch of 2022.
Understanding The Four Sections of The IIFT Exam
|Reading Comprehension & Verbal Ability||35||3||105|
|Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation||30||3||90|
When compared with major exams like CAT, the General Awareness section is the biggest differentiator. Out of these 20 questions in the GA section, roughly 75% are static and the rest are current affairs. This is said to be one of the most difficult sections to crack despite having the lowest cut-off score. In IIFT, the VA-RC section can be very scoring and is very important. Out of 35 questions, 16 belong to RC and 19 to VA. These 19 questions comprise FIB, crossword and synonyms, para-jumbles, etc. Within the LRDI section, 18 questions belong to DI and 12 to LR. Calculation intensive DI is a common element of the IIFT exam.
Just like CAT, IIFT has an individual sectional cut-off and an overall cut-off. The following were the overall and sectional cut-offs for IIFT 2019, for various categories. For IIFT 2019, the cut-off stood at 138 marks for the General category, which is 46% of the maximum possible score. Note that the overall cut-off is much higher than the combined sectional cut-offs.
|Reading Comprehension & Verbal Ability||105||34||34||28|
|Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation||90||22||22||20|
