The Journey Begins
I was very much excited after getting into RPG group in Supply Chain Domain and I even started learning skills related to my domain. But I never imagined my internship would be in work from home(WFH) format and felt disappointed when I knew I could not go to site and I even feared that I might not get the field experience or I might not learn much etc, but all my apprehensions were wiped off completely after I started my journey with RPG.
Induction- Smooth and Seamless
The induction program went well and I got the opportunity to interact with the top management and they shared their ideas and their insights regarding these difficult times and the plan of action for the future. We got a chance to ask our queries and got them resolved. I was assigned with one of the complex problems in the Supply chain along with a great team to assist me in the process.
Dealing with Work from Home
Initially work from home was new and it took time to adapt to it and most importantly understand the problem virtually and get an overall idea of the project. I was definitely out of my comfort zone but it gave me good learning, adaptability and improved my skills.
My Project- Roles and Responsibilities:
My job needed that I had to schedule my tasks and arrange work accordingly. Challenges were there in terms of getting data and scheduling Interviews and getting time from my team etc but this helped me in how to extract time from people and how to make use of limited time effectively by asking the right questions.
My project involved both data analysis and talking to various stakeholders as it had a broad scope. This gave me a lot of learning as it was the first time I am working on such huge amount of data, here my guide helped me a lot by making my life simple and in the way teaching me some tricks to work swiftly and easily. Then after analysis I had to talk to people and gather their insights. I learnt a lot from talking to various people, understanding their views on this problem and in process understood the diversity of thoughts and various viewpoints I can look the problem from. I was literally amazed by talking to people like DC operators and workmen as they provided me with some wonderful insights.
Friends- Who made it Memorable
I made a lot of friends here at RPG though it was a virtual internship I feel that the bonds are strong and remain for a lifetime. I would spend hours talking to them and we talk about everything under the sun. I would take their ideas about my project from them and my friends would be first point of contact if I have a query with excel etc.
Fun at RPG
Another aspect I never thought would happen is having fun with my Co interns or anyone parse. But we had good fun through a virtual interface and I thoroughly enjoyed it as we played new game for 8 weeks and there were jokes and lot of random discussions which were real stress busters during Internship.
My Learnings- Important and Required
I have learnt a great deal during my Internship especially that with dedication, Strong will and Hardwork nothing is Impossible and its the Journey that matters the most. In my domain I have learnt data analysis, Problem Solving Techniques, Lean Sigma and optimisation of Resources to achieve maximum Benefit.
On a concluding note, I would say RPG is fun, wonderful and great place to be and learn. It gave me a lot of memories and friends that I can rely upon along with a wonderful project and an even wonderful team to work with.
