It was a Sunday and we had visited the Phoenix Marketcity, Chennai to have a good time. We went for a movie, had lunch and started exploring. I had an interview scheduled for the next weekend and wanted to buy a formal shirt. I went into the Peter England store and a blue shirt caught my eye. I tried it on and it fitted perfectly. I immediately knew it was the one.
The company was rated among the top 10 most difficult in the world. I had a tough time the entire day, but I pulled it off. 5 candidates including me were told that the final round will be held after two days via telephone. I didn’t want to jinx it, so I wore the same shirt during the final telephonic interview and I got the job.
Since that day, the blue shirt has been my lucky shirt. I have worn this shirt in every interview and interestingly, my conversion rate has been 100%. I wear this shirt in every interview, important meetings and events. I like to believe that it brings out the more interesting and intelligent part of me. This is my lucky shirt. Being a person of reason, I know the last statement does not make sense but I chose to believe it to be true.
Just like mine, ABG touches many lives directly or indirectly and through these little stories, makes the world a better place to live in. #ThankyouABG
How I Changed my Personality:
From my childhood, I was an extreme introvert and what the people call “SHY”. I loved spending time alone, painting, playing and reading. I hated to be in the limelight and shied away from every school event. But as I grew, I realized that being an extrovert has more perks. As I knew, people can change their personalities slowly, I decided to transition from an introvert to an ambivert.
Slowly, I started becoming part of group conversations and going to people to have small talk. I ensured that when I was around people, I would talk to everyone and get to know more and more people. Easier said than done, this was not a cake walk. It took a long time for me to be able to go to people and start conversations. Eventually, it became evident that more students from my batch and more teachers knew me and I liked it. Being a partial extrovert is not bad!
This is how I slowly changed my personality from a complete introvert to an ambivert. I now enjoy interacting with people and making more friends. I equally enjoy my alone time. In MBA, networking is the most important thing and therefore, it is easier for extroverts to become successful leaders as compared to introverts. I can now proudly say that I have worked on myself and changed a part of my personality to adapt to this competitive world.
