Baba Ramdev – One Brand Army

Born as Ramkrishna Yadav, his journey to becoming Baba Ramdev was nothing like I have ever heard before. Like him or hate him, there’s a lot to learn from the BRAND BABA RAMDEV.

How did a simple yogi become such a big influence on people?

“If people like you they will listen to you, but if they trust you, they will do business with you.” – Zig Ziglar

Trust! That’s the word. Baba Ramdev has invested time and effort in gaining the trust of his followers. People associate him with yoga, Ayurveda and ancient practices. Brand managers can learn the art of winning the trust of people from Baba Ramdev –

1. Know your customers – Baba Ramdev has spent over 15 years, teaching yoga to people across the world. He has personally interacted with many of his followers and understand their needs and desires. He understands the core of an aam aadmi and speaks to them in a language they understand.

2. Word of mouth – Initially, Baba Ramdev didn’t indulge in publicity. It was the people who experienced positive results in his yoga camps went ahead and spread the word. This was one of the biggest advantages he had.

3. Focus on ancient practices – Baba Ramdev’s emphasis on Ayurveda and ancient practices made him the face of yoga and Ayurveda in India.

Today, consumers are ready to buy anything he sells. Why else would people be willing to dump their favourite brands and switch to Patanjali in the blink of an eye?
