My story of challenge and acceptance.
My father is one true example of perseverance, grit and positivity, even during the harshest days. He first moved to Calcutta at age 16 to study and land a job as was expected of him. Missed qualifying for his ICWAI exam by a small margin, but landed a job in Indian Railways, parents were proud, But! He didn't want to work for higher ups; against the wishes of the family he moved to Bombay in '83. Ever since, he's had his shares of ups and downs and moments of uncertainty, but we have never seen him buckle under any amount of pressure. The qualities of being a motivator, a solution seeker and a mentor comes naturally to him.
After finishing my Masters I found myself in a dilemma, whether I wanted to make my career in the Government or in the Corporate. So, naturally when I gave up on myself for not clearing Banking and Securities examinations for the most coveted organizations, I walked up to him and confessed as to how upset I felt for having failed to meet achieve my goals and letting him down. To which he very calmly replied that tasting these failures so early in my life has changed me as a person without me even realizing it. Looking back, his words couldn't have been truer. That one conversation with him has completely changed my outlook towards experiencing defeats, I am much more accepting of my shortcomings and work towards plugging in the gaps. This my story of overcoming the challenge of dealing with hurt, disappointment, being hard on myself for not meeting my own goals and it has landed me at SIBM B, to make the best out of the next 2 years.
