It was the last year of my college and companies had started visiting for campus placements. An important rule was to wear formals for any company interview and everyone had to abide by it. I was always apprehensive to wear formals due to my not so fit body and so I was unable to convert any interview due to low self confidence as I struggled to stop thinking about how I am looking in the ill fitted formal clothes. One fine day I decided to visit Van Heusen store as I heard positive reviews about the clothes there.I tried on a couple of shirts and trousers and it felt as if those had been curated for me. The formal wear was so perfectly fitting that I had to take at least a hundred pics of mine to be sure if it was me standing and wearing those elegantly designed clothes.I purchased a white crisp shirt and a lovely black trouser to match with it.
The next day I had my interview and I had never been so confident before in my life.I gave my best interview and thanks to Van Heusen I got my first job. From that day on wards Aditya Birla Group and its brands have always been there in part and parcel of my life. Aditya Birla Group is one of the most reputed and dignified conglomerates which has touched most of our lives in some or the other way and I am really grateful to Aditya Birla Group for always being a confidence booster and everlasting support system in my life through its various brands such as Pantaloons,People,Freshwrapp and so many more.
Aditya Birla Group has a legacy of more than 160 years and they employ more than a lakh people in 35 countries worldwide. It’s an organization made up of culture and values. They work with 500 villages and reach out to 7.5 million people annually as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility work. They are involved with major government schemes to help people in healthcare, education, livelihood, employment and many more areas and have been an integral part of their lives for more than 50 years.
How I overcame my greatest challenge.
“Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory”.
The above quote is very apt in today’s challenging world where each one of us face some or the other big or small challenge in our daily lives. What’s important is how we face these challenges and come out victorious.
There has been one significant challenge in my life which I would like to mention. It was the month of March last year that I decided to prepare for the MBA entrance examination – CAT. I had chalked out a plan and I was pretty confident that I will be able to successfully continue my job along with studies. I had joined a coaching institute and it was all going well until unfortunate turn of events took place and I met with an accident. I had suffered a leg fracture which inhibited me to walk, attend my coaching sessions and anything and everything. I had to take a 2 months leave from my work and had to go back home to recover as I was living alone in Bangalore. While I was at home I could not study and by the time I fully recovered and came back to Bangalore too much time flew by. Moreover my coaching institute also refused me to take back as I had missed 2 months course and they suggested me to join again next year. However I was adamant to put in my best effort and I decided to study on my own with the help of the study material i had.
I faced this challenge with utmost determination and managed my time with the pending office work. The times were difficult but self confidence and hard work always pays off and after gruelling 6 months I was finally ready to write the exam.
I came through with flying colors and I received an offer from IIM Visakhapatnam where I joined and currently studying as a MBA student. This experience has taught me endurance and gave me a fresh perspective towards facing challenges in order to achieve what matters most in your life.
