NITIE Mumbai is an exemplar in helping Indian businesses make their presence felt global. NITIE has been the cornerstone in acting as a driving force not only in the manufacturing sector but also in all dynamic sectors of the Indian economy. NITIE has aligned its goals and objectives in line with the current and future needs of the Indian economy. Located in the heart of Mumbai, its beautiful campus has been producing some of the best managers of the country consistently for the past 50 years. Here are ten interesting things about NITIE that you should know:

1.The Mecca of Supply Chain

NITIE is considered as the Mecca of Supply Chain. Students from NITIE get placed in some of the best roles in the domain of Supply Chain and Operations. Not just that, some companies recruit exclusively from NITIE, especially for Ops & SC roles.

2.Connect with Nature

NITIE is said to be God's own campus, being endowed with the lush green hills across 67 acres. It is surrounded by the captivating beauty of the Powai and Vihar lakes, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and a pond within the campus. With the Hiranandani Skyscrapers in its backdrop, this is the perfect date spot for the urban youth. The natural beauty simulates the experience of a Safari, being home to diverse varieties of flora and fauna.

3.Tallest Hostel Building in India

The boys' hostel is 16 floors high, the tallest hostel in India. The hostel rooms are well furnished. The hostel is equipped with modern fire systems, has facilities like common areas on each floor, RO filtered water, wifi, television, indoor sports facilities like table tennis, snooker, etc. It even has guest accommodation facilities for outstation visitors.

4.Packages & Recruiters

The highest package offered in 2020 is INR 58.24 lakhs, while the average package is INR 21.30 lakhs. The average salary of the top 10% of the class is INR 36.67 lakhs.
Top companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Flipkart, HUL, ITC, P&G, Philips, PwC US Advisory came for placements.

5.Entrepreneurship Development Program & Innovative Ecosystem

As a part of the curriculum, students engage in entrepreneurship activities, launching their own businesses, operating, and managing them. The program not only gives the students an insight into starting their ventures but also gives them first-hand experience about the various processes that one needs to undertake to form a company. Few organizations that set sailing are cheetee.com, a customized apparel making company; Componentika, a 3d-printing company; Nascent-Vision, an e-commerce company; all of which generated substantial revenue during these 3 months of the program. MoU has been signed with NITIE Alumni for setting up Endowment fund for Innovation @NITIE, which aims to generate innovative ideas, translate them from concept to prototype, and in the process, establish a responsible ecosystem that will enable students to succeed in their endeavors.

6.Maha Mandi

The business was born on the streets. Maha Mandi is an innovative socio-marketing initiative organized by the Marketing Interest Group (MIG) of NITIE, which combines the entrepreneurial spirit and practical approach towards learning integrated with a sense of social responsibility. The students from various B-schools get down to the streets of Mumbai to compete against each other by selling educational toys. All the profit made from the event is used for the upliftment and betterment of underprivileged children. The proceeds which have been continually increasing are donated to an NGO.

7.The Director

The Director, Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari (FNAE, FNASc, FIIIE, FIISE, and FIETI), has established his place in the Supply Chain domain. Formerly the dean of IIT Kharagpur, Mr. Tiwari has published over 300 research papers in International Journals and has been ranked no. 1 among the top 100 researchers across the world in Production and Research by Taylor and Francis. He has also been awarded "The Most Influential Researcher Award" in the domain of Operations and Supply Chain. His achievements seem never-ending. When you have such an illustrious leader heading the b-school, you know you're in good hands.

8.Ataria Jam

Ataria Jam is a unique tradition at NITIE, where students get together and jam to old Bollywood songs, as well as English songs. Started by earlier batches, students gather at the end of every month to jam to their favorite songs and spend a melodious evening together.

9.NITIE Premier League

For all the cricket fans out there, NITIE has something special to offer. In the spirit of the IPL, NITIE has created its own premier league! They have auctions, where players from NITIE (domestic) as well as other B-schools (foreign) are put up for bidders. The matches are held in the NITIE ground itself, and the energy of the crowd is as wild and charged up as the IPL.

10.Committees and Forums in NITIE

Committees and forums are a massive advocate of empowering the students in conjunction with strengthening faculty relations. They give you the opportunity to put up positions of responsibility that emulate the corporate culture. The functions and responsibility verticals are divided and defined thoughtfully among the committees and forums. The roles assumed by a committee are as follows:

Implementing smooth conduct of the placement process
Strengthening Alumni relations
Organizing "Avartan", the flagship annual business conclave.
Ensuring and assisting the faculty in the process of admissions.
Showcasing the highlights of the college keeping people abreast with regular posts
Forums give you the podium to display your mettle and passions
NITIE has 18 forums of diverse interests from the core competency of the supply chain to passionate photographers. You can pick your interest and get ready to home your skills.

To be honest, a list of 10 things doesn't quite cover everything that NITIE has to offer to its students. They have a Rotaract club, a photography club, state-of-the-art facilities, and much more. If you want to know more about NITIE, or what programs they offer, do visit their website
