If your b-school were a film character, who would it be? SPJIMR students think their school and curriculum embody the qualities of Rancho or Phunsukh Wangdu from 3 Idiots. Remember the quirky Rancho who was passionate about solving problems, loved learning and went out of his way to help friends and foe (*cough*Virus*cough*) alike?! A b-school with a heart and the courage to stand apart. That’s what every b-school in India seems to strive for. That’s what proud SPJIMR students embody too! How? Find out in this video.

Summary of the video:
In this video, meet Dr. Ranjan Banerjee, Dean and Prof. of Marketing at SPJIMR. Dr. Banerjee talks about the SPJIMR logo. He shares the philosophy behind the b-school and brand that is SPJIMR. He talks about how the logo has 5 strokes and embodies the words courage + heart.
He compares the philosophy of SPJIMR to that of Phunsukh Wangdu (Rancho from 3 Idiots). He shares how Rancho has the courage to strike his own path and ask questions unapologetically. He shares how Rancho was able to stand out with his heart and start a new school for the less privileged in Ladakh.
He talks of how SPJIMR students too, have these qualities in spades. He talks about the 5 strokes in the SPJIMR logo and explains that the 5 strokes stand for authenticity, dynamism, groundedness, innovation and social sensitivity. These are the qualities that SPJIMR recruits for and fosters. He shares how these qualities are ingrained in students through the curriculum and how students get multiple opportunities to become innovative and socially sensitive.
He talks about a program called Abhyudaya - which allows students to mentor children from economically deprived sections of society. He also talks about ADMAP or the Assessment and Development of Managerial and Administrative Potential course. This course is run exclusively by students and is a part of SPJIMR’s “non-classroom learning” methodology.
He ends by sharing how if you want students to be courageous and mindful, you must be it first. He shares how that is the experience SPJIMR is trying to create
