I still remember the day I went to Pilani which is about 140 kms away from my hometown and questioned my father about BITS. My father told me a wonderful story about Birla group and the 7-year-old me was mesmerised with the tales. Years passed, knowingly and sometimes unknowingly Aditya Birla Group always remained a part of me, and finally I was at IIM Udaipur. In my life ABG has always played the link between me and the world. After coming to IIMU I was overwhelmed with the level of competition and rigour here. First thing I did? Called my mother with my Idea Vodafone cellular number to her Idea cellular number, and as warm as a mother’s words are, in no time I was calmer than a summer sea.
When I first came to Udaipur, I forgot my suit at home, I had to join IIM Udaipur the very next day and I was terrified. Roaming along the street, I saw a Peter England store, with a ray of hope, I walked inside. A man with a gleaming smile greeted me, I asked him for a suit, he told me to wait, and brought me a blue coloured suit. To my surprise, the very first product he showed me, suited me perfectly. I was already greatly in debt and then the Man said ‘there’s an offer on it’. Be it the student life or the personal one, be it Peter England or Forever 21, ABG will always be there for you.
The days I have spent in IIM Udaipur, I have seen the tall buildings being strengthened by Ultratech Cement, the boy showing off his clothes and saying “Kapde to Allen Solly ke hi jachte hai” (Allen Solly clothes are the way to go), and of course me, being thin as hell and still looking sharp in his Peter England suit (a part of Madura Fashion & Lifestyle, a division of Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd.).
When I first heard that we could have the privilege of hosting ABG in our college for placements, there’s no way I would have been able to control my excitement. ABG has shaped up a part of my life and its about time, I can have a chance to become a part of ABG.
