With 17 motivated minds and four erudite mentors, the Academic Development and Cross Program Integration Committee (ADPIC) was formed with the aim of integrating different programmes within SPJIMR for the first time. Our objective is to bring synergy in our institution by promoting the exchange of knowledge not only across different specialisations within PGDM but also across different programmes. Along with integration of specialisations and programmes, ADPIC as a committee also aims to promote “Thought leadership” and spread awareness among students about “Human Resource policies and Consulting industry”.
Our first milestone was holding a session on Apple’s financial strategies with Dennis Vinks - Professor of Finance and Investment at Nyenrode Business University (NBU). An insightful session with this visiting faculty of Global Management Program (GMP) was marked by attendance by participants from PGDM, PGPM and GMP programs.
Our next move was to go beyond academics. ADPIC planned to bring together a bunch of diversified students who even though shared the same campus, had never interacted at length before. And what better way to do that than music and dance! We organised a contemporary Ballroom dance and dine event wherein students of PGPM, PGDM, GMP, FMB and PGEMP programs participated. This event fostered bonding through dance and fostered camaraderie, coordination, and cooperation. The initiative also made them conversant with the western corporate culture which would help in future to network with corporates globally. It was a captivating sight to see 108 participants cutting across a multitude of industries and having zero to 6 years of work experience dancing together, free from the rigour of academics and bonding over Shiamak Davar’s dance steps and Mexican cuisine.
We always thought it is necessary to inculcate a fun & entertaining intellectual tradition in the college that can enable students to delve deeper into their curiosity and know about the world around them. Therefore we have initiated a quiz club “SPQuizitors” to conduct informal quiz sessions and online quizzes to encourage participation in inter-college quiz competitions & corporate competitions like Tata crucible etc. We will conduct quizzes on topics ranging from entertainment, politics, business, technology to general knowledge and sports. We will also encourage students to have a hands-on experience for conducting informal quizzes by being the quizmasters on the topic of their choice.
Blessed with enormous library e-resources like CMEI, Bloomberg, Euromonitor, Capitaline, EBSCO, CRISIL, World Bank e-lib and many more, ADPIC aimed to improve awareness among the participants with regard to its utilisation. Since an exhaustive and authentic database for research with regard to various academic projects and competition in a Management school is imperative, we are conducting multiple familiarisation sessions to promote awareness and utilisation of such resources.
It is safe to say that ADPIC as a committee nurtures the idea of Sarah Caldwell:
“LEARN
Everything you can,
Anytime you can,
From anyone you can.
There will always come a time
When you will be grateful you did”
