Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
ABG has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From shopping at Pantaloons, Allen Solly to talking to my friends over the phone via their IDEA network, ABG has always been a part of my life growing up.
Now that I have grown up, I’ve realised that the part it has played was way beyond this. ABG has been a part of the fondest of my memories at all times and is now serving as a connection with my family.
Before coming to Ranchi and starting my life as an IIM student, I remember going with my sister to shop at Pantaloons, her helping me out with the choice of clothes as I don’t have a good taste when it comes to fashion (or this is what she likes to think
).
But more importantly, now that I am here, the IDEA network seems to be the only connection between me and my family. Having spent my entire life in Delhi, I’ve never stayed away from my family. Calling my parents, my sisters, my cousins, talking to them about my life here is the most relaxing and refreshing activity in an otherwise very engaging life. I never thought something as minor as hearing the sound of my pet bark in the background while talking to them could put such a big smile on my face.
Though ABG has been playing a lot of roles in my life, being there at every part of it, this single connection that it provides between me and my family is something I will always value.
How I made an impact?
The want to see my name on the top scorer’s list had been with me for a long time. I wanted to prove my worth, for my school to be proud of my achievements. I was willing to work as hard as I could to do that and I did. I still remember the parties I missed, the games I skipped, the functions I couldn’t attend, all to achieve this goal.
I tried and tried, yet I couldn’t. Though I did get a good score, it wasn’t the best. I continued my journey but changed my goals from getting the highest score to just studying what I was interested in, something that challenges me, that gets me all excited. I found that in Physics and decided to get a degree in Physics.
This time I just enjoyed what I was doing. Studied when I wanted to, what I wanted to. I attended most of the classes, enjoyed the laboratories but this time I didn’t miss the parties, didn’t skip any event, just enjoyed what I did.
To my surprise, this turned out to have a better effect on my grades than my previous approach. I got better results when I just enjoyed what I did than when I put more and more efforts even at the cost of my happiness. I ended up scoring 10/10 SGPA in my third semester which was the highest, not only in my college but in the entire university. Finally, I proved my worth, my department and my college were proud of me and the path to achieve this goal was far more fun than what I initially anticipated.
