Aditya Birla Group is symbolic of one of the sweetest memories of my childhood, an advertisement showing various human figures controlling the fundamental elements of life, i.e. water, fire, wind and land, all merging into one, in the vast sky, and forming the logo of Aditya Birla Group. It astonished me and made my eyes sparkle by its grandeur. I never realized that the group was as important part of my life as it portrayed, almost omnipresent on the earth in the form of various products it had manufactured or services it was rendering. Aditya Birla Group is a
2.45 trillion conglomerate with presence in 42 nations, which makes it the largest multinational company in India. Started in 1857 as a cotton trading firm, in Rajasthan, by Shiv Narayan Birla, the company has now grown exponentially and played a major role in the independence of the nation and post-independence too. With operations in all the continents, Aditya Birla Group, is true to its tagline “
Taking India to the World”. It is the largest company in the world in rolling Aluminium, the largest producer of Carbon Black, used for manufacturing Tyres, the largest company in production of viscose staple fibre, etc. Wherever I see around me I can spot something related to the Group. The group has renowned brands in Finance like the Aditya Birla Finance Limited, Aditya Birla Sunlife Insurance; renowned brands in clothing like Grasim, Peter England, Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, etc. It owns Hindalco, Hindustan Motors, Hindustan Times, Pantaloons, Orient Ceiling Fans, IDEA Cellular and what not. With about
26 acquisition in 17 years, Aditya Birla Group has created history by taking India to the place it never imagined. The group has done wonders in philanthropy and is one of the pioneers of India’s growth and development as it owns libraries, Planetariums, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Hospitals, Research Institutes, etc. the group provides
free education to at least 20,000 students every year and play a pivotal role in making India self-sufficient.
The impact of Aditya Birla Group on my life is immeasurable, because if I take it out of my life, I find a void which can never be filled. My father, a private builder, constructs building using Ultratech Cement, a brand under the Group. Without any aluminium, I can’t imagine how the country’s infrastructure would sustain, and without Pantaloons and all other popular brands, I can’t imagine my wardrobe. What I reminisce the most about my childhood are the car rides with my grandfather in his old ambassador, a car manufactured by Hindustan Motors, which was owned by the Birlas. The whole nation can’t stop associating the rich with the Birlas who have made India proud around the globe. The group is spread in 14 industries and consists of various well-known brands like Van-Heusen, Ted Baker, Birla Carbon, etc. Aditya Birla Group will always be irreplaceable in my life, just like the food cooked by my mother, which she packed for my tiffin using Freshwrapp, an aluminium wrap manufactured by Aditya Birla Group.
