From the morning till night, it’s hard to find a person, especially an Indian who hasn’t used an Aditya Birla Group product, even for a single day. From my basic necessities to the luxuries I enjoy, Aditya Birla Group supports in diversified ways. Starting from the cement which is used to build my home and the clothes I wear to the food I eat and the technology I use in the form of IT or telecom Aditya Birla Group has a role to play in one way or the other. It has been almost 25 years since the construction of our house, during which both my father and the appointed engineer trusted on UltraTech Cement blindly. Planet Fashion is a place which is my father and brother’s stop in all their shopping. Aditya Birla Group has become unknowingly a part of my life since the beginning.
Birla carbon makes my car tyres safer. The trains that I use for my daily transport requires copper, a large share of which is supported by Aditya Birla Group. Aditya Birla fashion is a brand that keeps me updated with the changing environment as well as budget-friendly. Hindalco aluminium makes the cover glass used in my cellphone to keep my screen safe. The connection I use for my cell phone is Vodafone Idea Limited, which is an Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Group partnership and is the second-largest globally. Therefore Aditya Birla Group is present in every sphere of my life.
How you overcame challenges to achieve your ambitions in life so far?
The river of my life has never flowed smoothly in a single direction. But through experience, failures and success, I have learnt to manage all the bents and rough waters. It is mainly my determination, focus, perseverance and logical abilities that helped me to get through it.
One of the biggest challenges I have ever faced was stammering. I had a stammering problem when I was young. But I don’t have it now. I started by talking very slowly. Then I practiced speaking in front of the mirror. Gradually I socialized more to overcome the fear of stammering.
I still remember my Infosys training days, when in spite of being trained in business intelligence later moved to the testing team. I loved the topics taught in business intelligence, but testing was a completely different domain. Therefore I wanted to gain the skills and acquire the knowledge so that I can be a part of the decision-making team for which I started preparing for my MBA. But doing 14 hours of work and studying for some of the most competitive exams in India wasn’t easy, which resulted in me getting a devastating score in CAT 2016. After this, I have learnt that if you are passionate about something, then you have to give your 100% and take the risk required. Therefore I left my job on 18th August 2017 and started preparing for my MBA entrance examinations.
In another incident, when in my final test of Business Intelligence training at Infosys, we were grouped into teams of 8, along with a leader to complete a dummy project within a week. I was made the leader of my team. It was a demanding task, as the time was short and new technology was learned. I divided the project into subparts and allocated each member with specific tasks. With coordination and cooperation, we passed through the hurdles that came along. Finally, as a team, we completed the project on time and passed the test with flying colours.
Thus perseverance, hard work and determination helped me to get over with the challenges which I have faced in my life.
