Aditya Birla Group has played an essential role in the lives of all Indians by expanding its business in critical sectors such as textiles, cement, chemicals and aluminium since the pre independence days. Staying true to its tagline “Taking India to the World”, it has emerged to be one of the globally leading firms in our country. From using Johnson products as a child to corporate clothing by Van Heusen and Allen Solly, Aditya Birla Group has been a part of my life for all these years. I remember how me and my friends were so excited to see what each one of us brought to school for lunch every day. We unraveled our joy by opening our boxes packed perfectly with Freshwrapp, another product of the conglomerate. I remember buying my clothes only from Pantaloons for quite long, as I loved the collection of clothing available there. Pantaloons happened to be one of the most successful clothing ventures of the company. Aditya Birla Group is known for its in-house brands that instill reliability and trust among the masses due to the quality of the products. The first mobile phone bought by my father and many other family members I know, had an idea sim and the conglomerate was successful in making a mark for its low-priced telecom services. Having ventured into the Telecom sector by the Idea-Vodafone merger now, it has shown its remarkable prowess in understanding Indian market and providing 4G services at competitive prices. This conglomerate has penetrated the Indian construction business as well, through its well-known subsidiary-Ultratech cement and it provides the most widely used construction products across India. Aditya Birla Group has shown its excellence not only in the field of business, but also in its corporate social responsibility activities. Just like its insignia of sun rays, it has been shining through the people’s lives by encouraging women empowerment, sustainability and education. It is known for its scholarship initiatives and trainings for women enabling them to become entrepreneurs. Aditya Birla Group, has in every way, enriched our lives with their contribution to the society.
Try and try harder, until you succeed!
During my graduation days, I developed a strong liking for a Human Resources role after my placement process. That is when, I started preparing for the various MBA entrance exams. I joined at Accenture and continued working there for two years. Juggling between work and studies, making it to my dream college was an everyday challenge for me. There were times when I had to work even on weekends as I was working in a support-based project and had to gather myself to do an all-nighter for mock tests. I missed classes when I had to go to office, but I made sure to get my doubts cleared from the faculty in their free hours. I put in all of my efforts whenever I had the time, to be able to achieve my targets. Little did I know, I had bigger challenges awaiting me. It was in the month of October that I was diagnosed with chronic health issues. I had been advised to exercise rigorously and take proper nutrition. With only one month to go for CAT, I had a hectic schedule of weekly medical appointments and tests along with my mocks. I felt like all my dreams might come to a halt and may be my preparation of an entire year would be of no use if I would not be able to give the exam. The day arrived and as I moved on from one question to another, I found myself really tensed and nervous. I could not attempt questions even from my areas of strength due to my anxiety. After 3 hours, I realized I could not deliver my best and I might not get any calls this year. I did not want to give up as I had another few exams left and I knew I could still make it. I started taking up more mocks to acquaint myself with the format and analysed the mistakes I had committed. I spoke to my friends and family who provided me with the much-needed support. I gave XGMT and XAT in January and this time I was hopeful. A month later, I was shortlisted for the interview and group discussion in XIMB. With the rigorous newspaper reading and mock group discussions I had taken, I performed decently on the day of assessment. Finally, when the shortlist arrived for Xavier University, my happiness knew no bounds as I had been selected to study in one of India’s finest B schools. I had been waiting for this moment for over a year. Therefore, I will say try and try harder until you succeed! You might fail multiple times but perseverance is the way to success.
