Part A
Have you ever used an idea or a Vodafone sim card in the past or are still using it? Ever wore a Van Heusen suit? Ever prided yourself in using a Ralph Lauren product? Ever used products based on rayon or acrylic? If the answer to anyone of these questions is a ‘yes’- then you have been or are a customer of the third largest Indian private conglomerate that is ‘Aditya Birla Group’. Even if you say that you have been aloof to the world and have not used any of these products you can be pretty sure that at some point in your lives-chances are-you would have sat in a room which was built using cement from UltraTech. Thus it can be safely said that Aditya Birla Group has touched our lives in one way or the other.
Clothes for me are more than just a need-they are a manifestation of one’s inner self. Thus for me the largest value that I put- from the multitude of brands that the group has to offer- are from its apparel segment. Louis Phillipe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Forever 21 are the clothing brands that give me the satisfaction of purchasing a product. Once I enter the showroom to make a purchase I am already sure that whatever I buy will have authenticity in its quality. This trust not only comes from the use of the products but it stems from the fact that all these brands are under the umbrella of Aditya Birla Group, and why not? A group whose mission is to ‘deliver superior value to its customers, shareholders and society at large’ and which has stood the arduous test of time is for me a truly valuable and trustworthy partner.
Part B:
In my high school we had a badminton team, which used to participate in various competitions at district, regional and national level. The members were divided in age groups and each group completed only with members within the same age group. At the age of ten I wanted to be a part of 15-17 age bracket in the future-the most competitive group to be in. Every year there were several students who applied-but only few were chosen. To make sure that I get selected into the team I decided to start practicing under a regimen. Thus in line with my plans, I started playing and practicing every mornings and evenings. But this schedule took a heavy toll on me. Physically I was tired which in turn impacted my studies. I came to understand that down the line the challenge for me would be to maintain a balance between studies and practice sessions-as the load of studies was only going to increase. It took time, rigorous efforts, patience and a lot of will power to continue the sessions. After few years when the time for selection finally arrived I passed with flying colors. Not only did I make it to the team but was also able to participate in competitions-an experience that I will never forget!
