The Aditya Birla Group, one of the largest conglomerates in the world has played an inspirational and pivotal role in my life. The Group has contributed to the economy and development of modern India and thus has left its presence in every aspect of life in this country. I first came to know about ABG when I was seven years old through the advertisement of Ultratech Cement. I was then unaware of the impact of Ultratech Cement of the Aditya Birla Group. I was later mesmerized by the fact that almost all major infrastructure projects use the cement. Another very important ABG company which has a profound impact on my life is the Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail. For the longest time I had done my shopping including shopping for special occasions from Pantaloons without having knowledge of the fact that even in Fashion and Retail ABG has left a distinct mark in my life moulding my persona to some extent also by the wide array of offerings that it has in Fashion and Retail. The group has also dominated the telecommunications industry with Idea Cellular being one of the leaders in the field providing telecommunication services to not only big cities but also in the remote parts of the country. Even during my frequent visits to my hometown I would be in awe to find that Idea cellular towers function properly even in small towns and villages. One of the big component companies of ABG is Aditya Birla Capital. With its innovative strategies in Banking and Finance it has now become one of the best companies to invest in. In every sector starting from Finance to Retail and from Capital to Cement Production and Distribution, Aluminium Production and usage ABG has left a profound impact in this country and has inspired millions of people including myself.
Challenges that I have faced and Overcome in My Life
Life provides us with a variety of challenges; it’s the only exam where the questions faced by us and decisions taken are unique and depends on the thought process and capabilities of the individual. So our responses are unique. In my life also I have faced several challenges, some related to work and some others not related to work. However after overcoming every challenge I have found renewed confidence in my abilities and a more clear vision towards my goals and aspirations. I will describe a challenge I faced during my short stint in IT company as a System Engineer and Cluster Lead.
I was handled the responsibility of a Team of three people in my company to look after their day to day work and also to ensure on time delivery of daily work is ensured. It was first time as a lead and my responsibility was to manage other people and ensure that the team performs as a whole and there are no escalations. Although the first few weeks we were going fine soon the team came across a road-block and due to certain data validation mismatches,a lot of data had been mistakenly updated in a production site.
There was an escalation and I was asked to mitigate it. Having no formal experience in team management or mitigation of escalation issues IT was difficult for me to come up with a plan to mitigate the issue and come up with a back up plan to ensure that no more escalations can occur. I talked with my seniors and restored the data that was corrupted with the help of a tool that keeps track of such losses. Then I along with my team members put a third validation check in place to ensure that such sorts of mistakes do not recur. After that th project went smoothly and we are able to restore client confidence and I even received an On the Spot Award for my performance as Team Lead.
