Imagine an ordinary guy. He wakes up in the morning as the sunlight makes its way through the gaps between the drapes and falls on his face. He opens his eyes to see the lush bright colours of his recently painted room. The way the smooth wall reflects the light brings a smile on his face as he wakes. Wearing his favourite Peter England shirt, he gets ready for his college and has breakfast with his family. He sees his father looking for ways to invest money; he probably helps him with some of the knowledge he gained via the internet. While driving to his college, he glances at a construction site and the happy thought that a family will make this their beloved home one day grips his mind. During the lunch break, he enjoys his mother’s aloo paratha carefully wrapped in an aluminium foil to retain their freshness. He brings a separate tiffin for his hostel friends who miss home cooked food. After the classes dismiss, he shops with his friends at Pantaloons looking at the new sports apparels launched by Van Heusen. Suddenly at night, he receives a call from his old friend with whom he has been out of touch for years. They talk for a long time and cherish their old childhood memories. And he goes to bed with a happy nostalgic feeling. This guy is me. And probably, this guy is you as well. And behind all this, is Aditya Birla Group working in the background taking care of all our needs.
How you overcame your challenges to achieve your ambitions so far?
Nietzsche said, “He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how” I think the essential ingredient of success is determination. I think if you are determined to do something, there’s no force in this world that can stop you. Whatever ambitions I had, had been achieved because I was passionate and determined about those. There’s a feeling that you need to do a certain thing no matter what happens. I knew I had to do things which would take me out of my comfort zone. But I didn’t get scared of that and did it anyway. Just like everyone, I faced many difficulties while moving towards my goal and thought of quitting. But I convinced myself of the advantages it would offer. Initially, I failed a few times, which is natural. But with time I slowly started to see changes. It took time and I often got disappointed and upset to the point that I would almost stop. I had a sports competition, college end semester exam and CAT exam around the same time. It was a difficult task to juggle three things at a time and there came a point I would almost stop all three because it was getting too exhaustive. But I kept going because I didn’t want to stop in the middle and see it through the end. And apparently, I managed to get success in all. A major advantage of doing these apparently unpleasant and taxing things was that it then became a habit. I started to take difficult things as a challenge and that helped me to always try a bit harder and be better than what I was yesterday.
