IIT Delhi – this name in itself is a dream for many. And today I am writing about this dream becoming a reality for me.
The story began the day I decided to pursue an MBA degree after 3 years of my boring IT job (many of you can relate to this strongly) and so appeared for an unpredictable exam – CAT. A percentile of ~97 with good academic scores in Xth and XIIth board gave me hope of getting into one of the best B-schools in the country. On the other hand, I scored pretty well in NMAT and hence more avenues opened up for me.
First, I will list down the colleges I converted and then I will talk about the college I chose and my reasons behind doing so.

- NMIMS
- IMT Ghaziabad
- DMS IIT Delhi
- DoMS IIT Madras
I chose to go with DMS IIT Delhi. All the above listed colleges are elite and are at the forefront of every MBA aspirant’s mind.
Now starting with the big question of why I chose DMS.
The first reason was the unfulfilled dream of getting into an IIT. Living the life of an IITian automatically invokes a sense of pride in you. The IITian tag not just brings the name but also carries the vast and beautiful IIT infrastructure with it. The place is known for the entrepreneurs where you can find budding business ideas in every hostels' common rooms. Pursuing MBA from IIT gives you lot of opportunities to interact with the best minds of the country who all are set to change the entire ecosystem.
DMS has been ranked 2nd by Stanford University and 1st in NIRF rankings by MHRD, Govt. of India, in the research category by virtue of the quality of its faculties and their inclination towards research. The level of research projects offered is in itself an indicator of the brand name of IIT. The thrust for learning at DMS is on the synthesis of what is modern and latest with the traditional and ancient, so as to develop holistic managers. The Department is a symbol of excellence with its widely placed extensive research and publications and contribution to projects.
Talking about some other deciding factors, at DMS you are not bound to follow any particular stream. You can apply for any live project and can opt for any elective subject. You have complete freedom to shape your future. 8 months into the program, I have already completed projects from almost every domain.
I don’t intend to talk about placements in this article as that data can be found easily on the DMS website and readers can easily get a clear picture about the placement figures matching with the other elite B-Schools. I would like to emphasise on the ROI factor of this college which is much better compared to other top B-Schools as fee here is substantially less and placement figures pretty high.
IIT Delhi, now also being an institute of eminence, is among the best brands with which you would wish to be associated within our country as well as abroad. IIT Delhi also comes with world renowned alumni network and gives you the opportunity to interact with them. The strategic location of DMS in the capital city of India translates to numerous opportunities for industry interaction. I close this article by saying that I’m glad I chose DMS over other colleges and have enjoyed every single day of my life at DMS.
