Artificial Intelligence has become a buzzword in the world of technology. With recent advancements from OpenAI, Midjourney, Microsoft, and Google alike, some fear that AI might soon start replacing jobs, while some are excited about the possibilities it presents.
With its ability to learn, adapt and make decisions, AI is poised to revolutionize the way we live and work.
To gain a deeper understanding of AI and its impact, the team of InsideIIM visited Great Lakes, Gurgaon, to meet with a leading Professor and expert in the field, Prof. Bappaditya Mukhopadhyay, who shared his thoughts on the technology, its advantages, its limitations, and the fears associated with it.
While providing valuable overall insights into the subject, he also took us through one of his personal projects - his work on the Sundarban Delta Climate Crisis where he is using AI applications to mitigate the crisis in the region.
His work on Sundarban is an excellent example of how AI can be used to address pressing social issues.
Dr. Mukhopadhyay and his team are using AI to grade the region in terms of percentage vulnerability and thus help in forming efficient evacuation strategies through the use of data. However, as AI continues to evolve and become more sophisticated, it is crucial to consider its potential implications.
The need for government regulations in this changing AI world is essential to ensure that AI is used for the benefit of society. With AI being used in everything from healthcare to finance, it is vital to have measures in place to prevent any unintended consequences.
