“Dreams can often become challenging, but challenges are what we live for -- Travis white.”
I was born in a small village in a middle-class family and was brought up amid lovely rustic surroundings. I was a carefree child, surrounded by farms and fields. During those days, I have seen how a blossom transforms into a giant tree. Being the daughter of a farmer, I was part of this rapid transformation. That is where I got the motivation to be part of the rapid transformation and to be the driving force for the transformation. Yes, you guessed it, It is Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli which is in rapid transformation stage. So, it was my obvious choice to choose IIM Tiruchirappalli. Let us dig in more details further why and how it became my obvious choice.
It is my childhood dream to pursue my Master of Business Administration at Indian Institute of Management. But, my question was which IIM? When I was weighing my options for my MBA degree, I classified institutions broadly into two categories.
At one hand management institutes which have decades of teaching experience in MBA, outstanding infrastructure, exceptional research and strong culture. On the other hand, I have the option to choose the blossoming IIMs.
At the blossoming IIMs, I forecasted a plethora of opportunities to carve the culture the way I want. I anticipate more opportunities, where I can become a founding member of new initiatives. I do not condemn the fact that such initiatives are also possible at historic IIMs, But I feel the growth rate is incremental and they have narrow scope for the new initiatives as they already have established culture and ecosystem. Which I feel is realistic. Not to mention that taking initiatives and shaping culture is is a really challenging task. Yes! That is why I live for. That is where I decided to be part of newer IIMs and want to challenge myself. Now let us see why it is IIM Tiruchirappalli.
I was keenly evaluating blooming IIMs. I was considering many factors such as infrastructure, publications, current research, mission and vision. Most of these IIMs have more scope for the opportunities I listed above. But, I observed that in terms of infrastructure, research and publications, these IIMs are in energizing state. I felt it will take few more years to have competitive infrastructure and ecosystem. But, I have two years left for my MBA!!. Now I need to draw the line between opportunities and supporting ecosystem. That is where I found the right balance.
I zeroed on Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli.
Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?
I would like to work for
Aditya Birla Retail Limited (more). With the growth in e-commerce, a shift in the consumer purchase preferences, strong competitors backed by foreign direct investments, cutthroat competition in this segment, I feel more has more opportunities and many more challenges. In the recent past years more has changed a lot by launching an online platform and changes in the customer experience at the store. But, I feel more need to be way ahead of its new competitors, especially in the e-commerce domain which is going to dominate in near future with it's higher CAGR. more, need to set up for rapid growth. I would like to be part & driving force of this rapid growth. I feel, more has a perfect ecosystem to challenge my self and to drive more ahead of competitors.
