The UGC announced recently that the 40 central universities in India will now admit students basis one central exam named CUET. Started off as optional last year, this year, it is mandatory for admission in all the central universities. Plans are that all the other universities offering undergraduate exams in India will also be under its ambit soon. But, is this the right solution to the existing undergraduate admission problem? Is it going to solve the rote learning problem in India or going to fan it further?
