After putting up the hard work for 8 months and managing studies along with my job, finally, the CAT results were announced. I had converted most of the 2nd gen IIMs and all baby IIMs. It was a very proud moment as no one in my family or distant relatives (that I know of) had studied in an IIM and personally it was a dream come true for me.
I recall my first day at IIM Raipur as I entered the campus on 13th June for the registration process. I was surprised to see all the admission related activities conducted by our seniors. I had a talk with some of them and they were all very welcoming and helpful. Next day the classes began and the dream of studying in an IIM was finally sinking in. The Professors had a unique way of teaching and the pedagogy and academic rigour matched with any of the other IIM's. The sessions were interactive and heavily relied upon on case studies.
Fast forward a week, I know most of my batchmates and I can assure you that the diversity is at its best. We have graduated from possibly all disciplines including physics, economics, maths graduate. We also have CA's, M.tech grads, and doctors in our batch. The peer to peer learning can't be any better. The atmosphere at IIM Raipur is full of enthusiasm and energy. Seniors along with my batchmates share a unique bond as was visible from the very first event we had on our campus i.e. the EID celebrations. We celebrate each and every event in our campus like a family all around the year. Currently, we share our old campus with IIT Bhilai and Government Engineering College at Sejbahar. We will be shifting to our new campus at Naya Raipur anytime now. The new campus spreads to over 200 acres and will have an IT-enabled system to manage a host of utilities by using state-of-art technology. The design will be composed of city surveillance, IT-enabled land management system among others which are one of its kind and which were only used in the developed countries till now. It would also include Intelligent lighting systems, City guide map available through a web browser, Pay and use parking system, Display boards will be put up across the city for providing real-time information to citizens and emergency System & Alerts.
Having shared what makes IIM Raipur unique and one of the best b-schools in India for management education, I would like to add a caveat that merely joining an IIM is not an end of the road but a means to be closer to what you want to achieve in your life, We all know with power comes responsibility and so being from an IIM a lot is expected from us by the industry and the corporates alike.
