Divnay has been chosen as one of the top 50 most employable candidates across schools and programmes in India for the Class of 2016. He has one of the best 50 profiles among the candidates who participated in the Best50 competition.   About Me

I would like to describe myself in five words: Achiever, Strategic, Competitive, Maximizer and Analytical.
Achiever: I set high standards for myself in various areas of life. I can mentally zero in on tasks for hours at a time when I have a goal to reach. I have been a Gold Medalist in Graduation and a topper of Marketing Batch, MBA at SIBM-B (current).
Strategic: I attempt to understand how and why things work or fail to work. These insights stimulate my thinking. Then I try to generate a few alternative plans. This skill of mine led to a successful incremental product innovation at my previous employer by customer’s need research and hence, created a blue ocean in shawl textile market with that product.
Competitive: I have the “Let’s just do it right now!” attitude. I tackle assignments with enthusiasm and speed. I refuse to be content with my performance until I have been declared the most capable, successful, or accomplished person in the group. Every group assignment or activity in MBA, I keep improving my work to a par level I have set for myself until I achieve it.
Maximizer: I am quite determined to enhance my talents rather than waste time worrying about my limitations. I often experience bursts of rapid growth each time I use my talents. I am an adherent online shopper. I keep following the trend on latest offers and marketing strategy of the new budding e-commerce retailers. I am a big time cherry picker from these sites and try to maximize my savings by exploring various cash back website and payment wallet offer in addition to the seller’s website. This characteristic makes me good cost optimizer.
Analytical: I take time to understand how certain events, data, or bits of knowledge interrelate. My results are more precise when I reason things through to an objective conclusion. By nature, I rely on facts and reason to unravel the mysteries of a process, plan, problem, or solution. Many a time, people regard me as realistic or unsentimental. I refrain from becoming sentimental about certain people and their problems.

What have you done in your life that you are the proudest of?
In the year 2013, when I was studying at VIT University, during the final placements in the campus, I got selected in ITC Cigarettes and food with annual CTC of 6.5 lakhs. After the interview, I called up at home and informed my dad about my placements selection. But he exclaimed me to reject the offer and come back home after the semester exams. The reason was that my grandfather had a fall and was bed ridden and my dad wanted my support to take care of him. So, I went to the ITC panelist and explained them the situation and rejected the job offer. After college, the whole one year, I used to study at home for CAT and other entrance without attending any coaching institute and take care of my grandfather. My dad got me a job at Erode
to work simultaneously. I used to get up at 4 am early in the morning because, being old and bed-ridden, my grandfather had no control on his excretory functions. We did not employee any janitor or care-taker-boy to look after him because we believed that it was our duty to take care of him with love and compassion. He is the one who have got us to this world.
I and my dad looked after him for one whole year. On 7th Nov 2015 evening 07:00 PM he expired and the very next day was my CAT exam scheduled. The whole night, I could not sleep and next day morning I went to graveyard to perform his last rites. Then went straight from graveyard to Coimbatore (100 km from Erode) to write the exam. As a part of Hindu's culture, we had to leave for Haridwar to deposit his mortal remains in the river Ganga and while returning back from Haridwar, I landed directly to Chennai to write my SNAP, SIBM-B entrance test exam.
I don't repent losing a job at ITC, losing out of CAT for admissions at IIM, but I am proud to claim that I was a responsible Grandson and obedient son to have sacrificed a job opportunity and potential of best management institutes of India for my Grandfather well-being in his last few days of life.

What have you done at your Post-Grad/Business School/Undergrad level that makes you stand out from the crowd?

Coordinator of E-Cell - A Challenging Journey
The E-Cell of SIBM-B was shut for 2 years and then I took the ownership of reviving it and making it live.
I made a proposal to the Deputy Director of my college with the list of planned activities for the year 2015-16 and being impressed with the plan, he nominated me as the Coordinator of E-cell. The challenge to me was the funds to conduct activities and make awareness of E-cell. Since, E-cell being a club according to the rules of SIBM-B, clubs are not provided with any direct financial assistance. I had to find sponsors and then conduct events with the limited budget from the sponsors. The following events were conducted

  1. To impress the management and make the presence of E-cell in college, I started the Knowledge Center in college. The newspaper stand of the library was put out and daily morning the newspaper was put on it with the E-cell logo mentioning maintained by E-cell.
  2. The next step was to create a buss among the students for Entrepreneurship. For this, I took 64 students from my college to IIM-Bangalore - Eximius Entrepreneurship summit. This created a buzz among the students
  3. Then a series of workshop was conducted educating on how to make a B-Plan and various Guest Sessions from Entrepreneurs and Venture Capitalist were conducted.
  4. Conducted a Business Plan competition and series of Business Quiz within the college.
  5. All these events were sponsored by Pennyful.in, Shopclues.com and Goodies from Snapdeal making us self sufficient for our events.
  6. Now, the next plan is to get Incubator to SIBM-B maintained by E-cell
