Wasn't it long back, when I had dreamt about learning the Management fundas from one of the premier institutes of the country. Little did my poor mind knew that soon the opportunity will be provided to me at IIM Raipur.
I have joined IIM Raipur a couple of weeks ago and had my share of initial "hectic schedule". B-Schools are known for their rigour and excellence when it comes to teaching Management education and the academia. And IIM Raipur made me savour the good and the bad.
Being from an engineering background, the classroom teaching/participation and analyzing the case studies at the B-schools has always intrigued me. As I have spent only a few days in IIM Raipur, there aren’t any particular classroom memories/moments that have etched my mind. Yet, I’ll share something that has nevertheless made an impression. It is quite rare to find some Prof whose lectures doesn’t require any strenuous and tiresome efforts to concentrate and grasp the concepts in the class. His way of teaching is such that the knowledge would have been placed in our minds in those 90 minutes of saying the knowledge gratifying session. The pill of knowledge would have been taken by the student just by going with the flow of the lecture. In the last few classes which we had, what I had found was that the Prof had the knack to cement the concepts in the store of our brain. His class was something very interactive and the concept would be very easily locked into our minds by his various examples. My memories particularly direct my thought towards his "buzzer round"- where anyone knowing the answer would raise their hand and disperse his viewpoint on the question asked. As it’s the buzzer round, it's the first person who's up for the answer gets the opportunity. He also, to encourage the holistic class participation, will choose some student in random to present their individualistic view and the whole session goes on involved in the discussion. Now, one might ask what’s so special in it? It’s the prof’s communication, his voice modulation, the lecture pace, the inquisitiveness that’s created in the students’ mind makes the whole class plunge into the discussion and much more interesting. Not to mention, the voice amplifier would be turned off throughout the lecture. And also contrarily, no one would be spared from not interacting. Surely, it qualifies for one of the best lectures at IIM Raipur and to create the memories.
Hope to have many more such experiences carved out from the days to come.
Which ABG company I would like to work for and why?
Having joined IIM Raipur a couple of weeks back, I haven’t decided on any major stream that I would be opting for in the second year of Management studies. Nevertheless, I have an inclination to learn about management in the finance domain. So, the company in Aditya Birla Group that I would like to work in is Aditya Birla Capital Limited. With many industries and companies coming up throughout the world, money management would be one of the best areas to work in.
