Who wouldn’t be happy when they cross the first step of success? Yes, like any other person even me and my family were pretty much excited about my MBA career. MBA at IIM Trichy only added to the glory. But there were mixed emotions when the day had finally come, when I had to head towards my dream, MBA at IIM Trichy. Well, for a person like me it was a bit more difficult as I never left my hometown in my entire life. With lots of anxiety, curiosity and fear of what is in front of me I started my exciting journey of two years as a student again. I met few people. I had conversations with few and yeah, I found this bunch of people who were crazy and unique from the entire batch. Everyone of us here were struggling to understand the local language. But this language barrier never stopped us from shopping. A friend of mine went to the store to buy a face pack. Unfortunately, the realization that it was turmeric powder (Haldi) came after applying it just before she had to attend the lecture. However, she managed to get that off her face after lots of struggle. This made us learn a lesson to always be accompanied by a friend or person who knows the local language until we learn it our self. But, yeah not to say this would be one of the memory that we could revisit post MBA as well which could recreate the laughter. Laughing reminds me of those boring lunches and dinners people have while stuck always to their mobile phones. Well, I am glad that I always have an IIM Trichy friend of mine who would always jump in to sing along with all those situational songs I come up with, else it wouldn’t have been fun for a person like me who always forgets the lyrics. I supposed it to be an icebreaker session unless and until I was surprised with a balance sheet to analyse. When our group kicked off the analysis each and every word was more like a jargon to us. We struggled a lot, came up with few numbers and strategies only to realize that our company is at loss and going to be bankrupt soon. Probably it was our first time but the amount of fun we had analysing the balance sheet and guessing numbers was real fun. We weren’t disappointed only for the fact that it was just a game else who would be so calm going cashless unless and until it is for digital India. The crazy night out we had to analyse whether it was okay to pursue MBA giving up our sleep rather than completing our assignments which were due the next morning. Now that we are sorted, and our priorities are set and with much help from our seniors we are able to manage multiple things at a time with ease not really compromising on our sleep. After all learning through experiences is all that matters. I wish these tiny little memories of today would hopefully make us laugh and revisit the entire journey after two years and yes, they are yet more to come, and we are all geared up.

Which ABG company would you want to work for and why?

Given a chance, I would want to be associated with Aditya Birla Capital Limited, which is the umbrella brand for all the financial services business of The Aditya Birla Group. With its strong presence across Asset Management, Equity, Wealth Management, Insurance etc., is committed in serving the financial needs of its retails and corporate customers. With previous experience as a software developer in an Asset Management Company working for the 3rd largest AMC in India, ABCL would enhance my knowledge in the industry. It is a USD 40 billion Indian multinationals in the league of Fortune 500 operating in 36 countries across the globe with 50 per cent of its revenues flowing from its overseas operations. Hence, it would provide me a global exposure to all the economies. - This article is written by Aishwarya Abboju- Class of 2020
