If you thought ‘EX’ refers to that person, whom you’re trying to banish from your memory forever, you’re mistaken by a long way! Read on to discover why, as well as other eye-opening facts about the nuances of a Human Resource Management career, the changing job roles, and why it’s a great choice to opt for in India. 1. When the HR asks about the EX, it’s Employee Experience (EX) Gone are the days when the HR Manager was the business owner’s relative, simply taking care of the hiring-firing while ensuring the chai came on time. Today, as an HR Management professional, you need to master EX. Trends like ‘The Great Resignation’ are a good example of why. It’s critical for companies to ensure that employees are satisfied at each touchpoint with the firm. And the HR department is the key to ensuring that it takes place seamlessly. 2. Nearly 1 lakh HR Management jobs are expected to be added in 2022 According to a report in the Daily Excelsior, the HR management sector in India is predicted to grow at 9.8% this year, with nearly 1 lakh jobs expected to be added. That’s a lot of job opportunities for skilled professionals.

  3. India is home to the world’s largest ‘Young’ workforce Above 50% of our population is below 25 years of age, and more than 65% is below 35 years of age. This young workforce is a potent weapon as India seeks to be among the top economies in the world. And managing the youth brigade calls for an army of HRM professionals equipped with new-gen HR skills. Additionally, this demographic dividend is expected to peak only by 2041, implying 2 decades of growth if you’re in the HR industry. 4. Corporate India is on a hiring spree Hiring by the corporates is expected to go up by 31% this year, according to a Taggd-CMIE report. Just the IT & BPO sector is expected to double its employees from 2021 to 2023, touching the 1 crore mark. So, it’s a great time to enter the HR Management industry, and if you’re already in, upskill yourself and get into the driver’s seat.  5. India’s start-up diaspora is hiring at breakneck speed too India is home to the world’s 3rd largest startup segment, which raised $3.5 billion in January 2022 alone, according to a Times of India report. We have 61k+ startups, with 14k added only last year. Plus, there are a whopping 83 unicorns. So it’s no surprise that since 2018, more than 6 lakh jobs have been generated by startups. With the hiring showing no signs of slowing down, expect the demand for HR Management personnel to rise too. 6. HR Analytics skills are vital for the new-age HR Management personnel HR Managers in the digital age must combine social skills like empathy with advanced analytical techniques. As just about every sector taps into Big Data and AI, HR Management hasn’t been left behind. Crunching numbers to understand how company policies correlate to profits, using AI to predict which candidates will fit in what job roles, and drawing insights from hiring and attrition data is all part of the job today. 7. Being a young HRM professional is an advantage As more and more millennials enter the workforce, understanding and managing them will become HR Manager’s top priority. So, if you’re young and in the HR domain, you’ll certainly hold an advantage. After all, you need to be able to relate to stats like 69% of millennials would rather earn 33% less in a job they love, than work a boring role. 8. Just about any degree will do You don’t need a degree specialized in HR to make a mark in HRM. For example, Christina Hall, the former CHRO at LinkedIn studied law. Studies in business/commerce, psychology, sociology, communication/languages, etc. can all be applied to HR. All you need is to understand people well, have good communication skills and have a passion to motivate them. The rest are simply things you’ll learn on the job — or, in an AltUni Program! ;)
